I’m excited to share today’s card. When I first read that the colors chosen for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge were Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding, I was a bit shaken. WIth three pastels, how could I create a card with any punch? Well, I think I did, and here it is:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Stamp-a-ma-jig yourself a DSP. When I was selecting papers with the colors from the challenge, I kept coming back to the polka dot paper from the Designer Series Paper Stack and was having a hard time pairing up a DSP design with the polka dots. What to do? What to do? I decided to make my own Designer Series Paper by stamping “It’s a Boy” over and over and over, lining up the sentiment with my Stamp-a-ma-jig.
- Creating a pattern with the sentiments. Rather than line up the rows of sentiment right on top of each other, I decided to offset the rows slightly. I stamped the bottom row first, then the next row up. Ooops! I messed up and stamped the second line right over top of the first one, lined up precisely with the sentiments under it. So much for offsetting! I decided to pair the lines – two lined up, two offset, two lined up. Phew! Saved.
- Candy Dots. Man, I love these things! When I was done with my card, I needed something to balance it all out. With the simple addition of three candy dots (peal-stick, peal-stick, peal-stick), my card was complete. Brads wouldn’t have been so easy to add at last minute.

How sweet is this card? I love the rhino, and I am happy with the background paper I created with the sentiment – but let’s be honest. This card would be nothing were it not for the colors selected by The Pals Paper Arts team.

I wouldn’t have thought of adding a pink color to a boy card, but it works. As usual I love it. The it’s a boy paper you created adds the perfect touch.

Great idea creating your own DSP!! the lines of the sentiment are so incredibly straight Brian, you have such steady hands, WOW!! You definitely created a baby boy card even with this soft pastel colors when you created that totally hand made DSP. Fabulously beautiful card, thanks for sharing.

Brian, your cards always pack a ‘PUNCH’ I would of been upset with myself and put the mistake in my scrap bin and started over. But noooooooooooooooooooo…..not the KING. You always find ways to come up with something to save the day. I’m telling you, SU needs to recruit you!
