Happy 90th Birthday to Stefanie and Laura

Milestone birthdays are the best!  I’ve known Stefanie and Laura for many, many, many years, and both of them celebrated milestones this month – Stefanie turned 40, and Laura turned 50.  No one was surprised when we received invitations to their 90th Birthday Celebration.  I’m a supporter of joint birthdays – even if the math doesn’t really work out.  Either way, we were all happy to dress in all black (requested in the invitation) and to head downtown for the swanky event.  To honor the formal theme of the night, I made a joint birthday card I made for both of my friends:Just Married, Apothecary Art, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Cut it Short.  The base of this card started as a half-sheet of cardstock (4-1/4″ x 11″), scored at 5-1/2″.  I then trimmed 2″ off one edge, leaving one side of the card unfinished.  I covered the front panel with Modern Medley Designer Series Paper and the inside panel with Very Vanilla.  The oval overlaps this edge to complete the card.
  • Elegance is not Limited.  This stamp image (that I embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder) is from a wedding stamp set – Just Married.  Doesn’t make a different to me that I used this wedding cake as an elegant birthday cake.  Elegance has no limits, my friends.  If it’s good enough for someone’s wedding, then it’s good enough for Laura and Stefanie’s 90th birthday.  Am I right?
  • Fancy Envelope.  Stampin’ Up! included some great envelope liners in this holiday catalog.  I really wanted to use those on this project – but I had a piece of Designer Series Paper that was perfect for the back panel of this envelope.  Rather than cut into a new piece of Designer Series Paper, I decorated the back panel.  Woo hoo!  Way to save paper, Brian!  Just Married, Apothecary Art, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
