Happy Birthday, Jason!

Today wraps up a year of celebratory birthday cards for the Eger family.  I grew up with Janelle – we’ve known each other since middle school, we were really close in high school and we were inseparable in college.  This card is for Janelle’s husband, Jason, who’s incredible.  I’m so glad Janelle and Jason met each other – I love them both, and I love their adorable children.  I’m going to talk briefly about Jason’s card, and then we’re going to walk down memory lane to look at the birthday cards for the rest of the family from the past year.  Here’s Jason’s card:Simply Sketched (hostess set), Stampin' Up!, Brian King

I’ll be the first to admit that there’s nothing HUGE going on with this card, but I am really happy with how it turned out.  For starters, it’s a birthday card for a guy.  Instead of primary colors or 15 shades of brown, I’ve used Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper (I LOVE this piece of paper and have been waiting for the right time to showcase it) for this masculine card.  Sure, some of the colors in the paper are rather pastel-ish in nature, but you can easily pull Island Indigo or Basic Gray from the palette as an accent to masculinize this paper a bit.

Stamp Sets: Simply Sketched  Inks:  Island Indigo  Papers:  Island Indigo, Very Vanilla, Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper  Accessories:  Circles Collection Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Before I sign out, I want to share the cards I made for the rest of the Eger family over the last year.  For some of you, these are brand new shares, but some of you have never seen them before.  You can click on any of the pictures to see the original post.  I don’t always have a circle in the middle of my cards, but it seems to be a theme in the cards I made for the Egers over the past year.

Jude and Jonas’ birthday on January 26.  I made mirrored birthday cards for the twin boys.  While both were mailed at the same time, one card arrived early, and the other card was terribly late.www.stampwithbrian.com - Happy Birthday Jude and Jonas

Jarah’s birthday on May 25.  Jarah is a smart girl.  She is inquisitive and talented and loves her BK.  I made this colorful and sweet card for my Jarah:Make a Wish, Create a Cupcake, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingJanelle’s birthday on February 6.  I can’t ever forget Nella’s birthday – she quizzes me on the date every time we talk because I forgot it years and years ago.  I can’t say I get it 100% every time the quiz happens, but I know it’s in January…I mean, February.stampwithbrian.com - Happy Birthday, Nella!

And there you have it – a year of birthday cards for one amazing family.

Please help me wish Jason a very happy birthday.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  1. Love that card and think it is really nice that you have stayed friends this long…..Happy Birthday Jason.

  2. Happy Birthday Jason!!!!!! How lucky you are to receive a card from Brian!!!!! Great birthday card, I love the way you pulled that gorgeous Island Indigo color from the DSP to make your layers. Basic Gray would have worked too but this shade of blue looks very masculine and elegant. I think its fabulous that you stayed friends with Janelle for all this years, this friendships that last for a life time are precious. I’m still in touch with my friend Sylvia, we’ve been friends since the 4th. grade, we don’t see each other often, she lives in Mexico and I’m here but we correspond at least once a month and now, with the Internet, we share pictures of family and events.

  7. Great card to have on hand for almost any occasion. Easy to put together and just think of the multiple color combo’s you can use with this DSP. Loved the walk down memory lane again. Happy Birthday Jason.

  8. Love the birthday cards and let’s face it..circles work! Most days I seem to be running in circles. 🙂

  9. I love every single one of these cards! I’m definitely going to use them for inspiration. I just got a new job as a receptionist, and part of my duties is to make everyone’s birthdays special. How great that I just got into Stampin Up thanks to Brian and Sheila!!! ps, definitely think it’s time to become a demonstrator!!! I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me to do!!

  10. Very cute card! I may steal part of your idea and add a big 5-0 on the front for my sister’s upcoming big day!

  12. Happy birthday to Jason ! Great card and so are all of the others ….I know they are thrilled with hand crafted cards from you !!

  13. Brian – I am so excited! I actually remember all these cards! LOL When you get to be my age often old is new again. I love cards that look joyful, the kind you HAVE to smile when you receive and every one of these is the kind of card that makes one smile. How wonderful. Happy Birthday to Jason and you are so lucky to be so close to such a wonderful family.

  14. Happy birthday, Jason! It will definitely be brighter when he gets your card, Brian–wonderful as usual. Really love how you used that piece of dsp, too. All the cards are gorgeous, and it’s nice to have them all in one place to see together. “Old” friends, with all that history, are wonderful, aren’t they??

  15. Happy Birthday Jason. You are so lucky to get such a wonderful card. Love it. And Kathy O had a neat idea of putting a 50 (or any other number) on the front. All the “circles” cards are awesone. The family must have quite a collection by now.

  16. Thank you Brian and all. We are very lucky to have you as our friend. Can’t wait for our next card for Halloween, then Thanksgiving ….

  17. We all love our BK!

  18. I Love your Blog. You make the nicest cards. I needed some fresh ideas for Birthday cards. Well Done….

  19. I agree that it was an awesome idea to do a similar theme for the whole family’s birthday cards! Also – where are the dimensions for this card? I tried to CASE it today, and – while I like the way mine turned out – I couldn’t figure out the measurements for the inside matte and DSP. PLEASE include measurements! Pretty please?

  20. Brian,
I have to admit, I don’t get to your blog as often as I want to or should, but about once a month (sometimes too, ughhh), I manage to find the time to do so. Every time I get out here I tell myself I will actually tell you how much I like your work. Well, this time, I’m taking the time! It is great to see a man’s perspective and style of stamping! It is often so different than what I would do (and many others), and therefore so refreshing! I need to get out here more often. Thanks so much for the inspiration and “new thought processes.”
