Lovely Romance for the Pals Paper Arts

Today I am sharing my card for The Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (PPA170).  I love a good challenge, and this one was a doozy.  Three colors:  Midnight Muse, Crushed Curry and Early Espresso.  All three are rich and each is a Fall favorite.  What’s the challenge?  While Crushed Curry is gorgeous when paired with Midnight Muse and stunning with Early Espresso, the car tires screech and the record scratches when you realize the Midnight Muse and Early Espresso have to complement each other, as well.  Here’s my card:Lovely Romance, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA170

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

Today’s Tips, Tricks and Reminders are brought to you by the word “line.”

  • Line it up.  I knew I wanted to stamp three of these gorgeous medallions, so I trimmed a piece of Whisper White card stock to give me the exact size I wanted.  I put two tiny pencil marks at the top and bottom of the center of the card stock so that I could perfectly align the center image with my Stamp-a-majig.  The marks were simple to erase – just make sure your eraser is not too dry or too dirty to remove the light pencil mark (lesson learned the hard way).
  • Make a line.  I bordered the center piece of Early Espresso card stock with a piece of paper from the 2012-2013 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, trimmed carefully so that just two little strips of chevrons peek out at each side.  It took a little trimming and retrimming so that the card stock would cover the remaining patterns in the paper, but it was worth the fuss.
  • Line it.  Before trying it out here, I would never have paired the tiny chevron print paper from the Designer Series Paper Stack with this elegant medallion.  I was desperate, but I’m glad I tried it.  I decided to repeat the pattern in the lining of the envelope using the Envelope Liners Framelits Dies.  I just cropped the paper, glued it into the envelope and folded the flap.  Done!  What an easy way to add an extra wow.Lovely Romance, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA170

  1. Wonder if you can say that a card is both handsome and beautiful ? I can see this masterpiece in all sorts of color combinations . You could also use it for various reasons or events . That means a set of 4 of these would be a nice gift for someone ( add the sentiments to be adhered by the recepient as to the event ) Such detail that would not be known if you hadn`t pointed it out to us …Maybe you could include a note in the envelope that they better not throw this card away …that you went above and beyond to make it and maybe once they have seen it to return it back to you !!!

A big hug to you !
