Snowflake Greeting

Weren’t you just saying the other day that you want a simple idea for a Christmas card?  You want simple but beautiful?  Well, my friend, it doesn’t get any simpler than the card I’m sharing with you today.  OK, so it’s not a standard size, and it’s not a traditional shape.  There’s no pre-fabricated envelope to fit this card.  But it’s simple.  One fold, a couple of stamps and a crop.  !Voila!  Done.  Here’s my snowflake greeting:More Merry Messages, Gorgeous Grunge, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Snowflake-shaped Greeting.  You’ve seen circle-shaped cards before – simply fold the card stock and crop it, allowing the folded edge of the card to overlap the framelit or die.  With the snowflake, I positioned the die so that the base of the card would sit flat – like a little easel so the card will stay balanced.  Take another look – see what I mean?  Ask me how I learned that lesson.  I’ve got a couple of other snowflake cutouts that learned me the teaching – is that proper grammar?  If not, it should be.
  • Creating a snow flurry.  A couple of stamps of the “streaks” stamp from Gorgeous Grunge, and you’ve got yourself a beautiful snow flurry.  No distressing or grunging needed to make this stamp beautiful.
  • Envelope, please.  Since the Envelope Punch is now available, you’ll be seeing more and more odd-sized and odd-shaped cards from yours truly.  This is no exception.  My prototype for this is in the Fungeon, so I can’t reference it – but I want to say the snowflake is 3-1/2″ wide and 4-1/4″ tall.  I could totally be wrong – but it doesn’t matter because the Envelope Punch will make anything – seriously.More Merry Messages, Gorgeous Grunge, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  12. “but it doesn’t matter because the Envelope Punch will make anything – seriously.” OK. So where’s the envelope for the smaller card? 😉 Freaking LOVE the snowflake card, by the way!

    • Funny! I was thinking about how to make an envelope that small as I looked at the tiny card (it’s on my desk here at work). Perhaps it’s can’t be done – but I can’t blame that on the board. 🙂
