A Big Thanks

Sometimes you need a big thank you for someone who does something really nice for you.  Thank you sentiments don’t get any bigger than this one found in Stampin’ Up!’s most recent Photopolymer Stamp Set, Another Thank You.  And cards don’t get much easier than this one.  Here’s a card I made with it:Another Thank You Photopolymer, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Photopolymers.  Have you tried out any of the photopolymers in Stampin’ Up!’s collection?  If not, check out the collection by click here.  While the clear mount stamps can be pressed to a clear mount block, clear mount stamps are not clear.  But photopolymers are.  You can see completely through them.  Woo hoo!  Perfect placement every time.  I love my Stamp-a-ma-jig, but sometimes it’s kinda nice to let her rest on her shelf while I’m stamping in the exact right places.  You’re welcome, Stamp-a-ma-jig.
  • Stamping on Bags.  Every once in a while, you want to stamp on more than just card stock.  To make this card, I stamped on one of the Tag a Bag gift bags from the Annual Catalog.  I started by cutting open one of the bags and trimming it to fit on the face of a card.  I stamped the image on this really great waxy paper with its white and craft chevrons.  The bag doesn’t soak up as much ink as card stock would, but it’s still a great medium for expressing thanks.  I also added a panel from the back of the bag to the back panel of a Crumb Cake envelope.Another Thank You Photopolymer, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Embellish it.  The thank you image wasn’t enough.  I was busy making a masculine card, so I naturally thought, “add some flowers.”  OK, that’s not an intuition-driven decision, but I think the flowers work here.  These black flowers are not feminine, and they add a nice texture tot he card.  I placed a Crumb Cake Candy Dot in the center of each flower to coordinate with the rest of the card.  Woo hoo!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  2. Great card. Finally gave in and bought the photopolymers (same set) ….. now I have an inspiration to get me started. Thanks!

  3. L-O-V-E this card! Definitely adding this stamp set to my wish list!!

  4. OK, I’m buying the set. I love that thank you from this set. I was straddling the fence on ordering it and you helped me to choose sides. Thanks for a great card.

  5. I absolutely LOVE photopolymer stamps! They take up even less room to store than the clear mounts, are super easy to clean (if your in a hurry you can just wipe them on the old jeans your wearing) and stamp magnificently! I can’t wait to get my next order in Brian so that I can play with this set. Your card, as usual, is just Fab and I love the addition of the flowers – brilliant!

  6. Love this! What a great idea to stamp on the bag, and then add it to the back of the envelope, too. Love the neutral colors, too. I think the flowers are OK for a guy card. They are black after all!

  7. Love, Love, Love! Yes, with all capitals! 😉

  9. Hi there Back in June I order a Magnetic Platform and it seems to have lost its magnet. Not completely but no where what it used to be. Have you had any other complaints About this platform. I love it at first and I have been using it a lot and I can move the frame on the paper stock.

    • Adrienne, I have not had a similar problem with my Magnetic Platform. What I have noticed, though, is that very sentitive to warped cutting plates. When cutting on the old platform, the cutting plate could be as bent up as you let it get. It makes sense to me, though, that the magnetic pull would be stunted by a warped plate. Does that make sense? I hope so. If you place a framelit directly on the platform, is it sticking firmly? If so, my guess is the plate is the problem. Please let me know if that helps.

  10. Great idea stamping on the bag for some unique “DSP”. I did something similar using the Indigo Blue print that comes in the Undefined kits. Can’t let anything be put aside, can we!

  11. What a fabulous card!! Love it!

  12. Brian, I am suspecting you used StaZon ink for the “Thank You”? How well do the regular SU! inks work with the polymer stamps? And, last question, is the card you made a standard 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″? I am trying to gage the size of the “Thank You”. 😉 Thanks, Brian.

    • The Stampin’ Up! inks work well with the photopolymers, but I did use StazOn because of the bag. The card is a standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card, so you can see that the “thank you” is pretty awesomely big. 🙂
