Thankful for You

There’s nothing more important than letting our loved ones know how important they are to us.  Whether it’s a simple “I love you” or a lengthy letter to share our gratitude, it’s just as important for the thanker as it is for the thanked.  While we are being thankful for our health, wealthy and happiness (not necessarily in that particular order) this time of year, we should also remember to say “I’m thankful for you” to important people in our lives.  This is my gratitude card:

Note:  I hate to apologize, but my camera did not like this card.  I think it tried to make sense of the randomly stamped Gorgeous Grunge in the background.  No matter how many times I photographed the card, half of the card always appeared fuzzy.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • The sentiment.  This sentiment is a combination of two stamp sets:  Thankful (a single stamp offered in the Holiday Catalog) and Another Thank You (a photopolymer stamp set).  The “you” is a part of the very large “thank you” in the stamp set, but I used my craft scissors to snip the “thank” and the “you” apart from one another.  Because this is a completely clear stamp, I won’t have a difficult time combining them in the future.
  • The leaf.  I cut 1/2″ strips of four colors (Sahara Sand, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake and Old Olive) and glued them side-by-side on a piece of scrap paper.  I then stamped the leaf over top of the beautifully striped paper strips.  I stamped several leaves, thinking of a much larger projects, but time and necessity got away from me.  The single leaf is all this card needed.  I guess I’ll find a way to thank someone else with the remaining leaves.  Here’s an in-progress oak leaf that didn’t make the final cut when auditioning for this card:Gently Falling, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Size.  This is not a standard-sized card, which is A-OK by me because I can always make an envelope with my Envelope Punch Board.  The card base measures 6″ x 4-1/4″, while the central piece measures approximately 5″ x 3-1/4″.

Stamp sets:  Thankful, Another Thank You (photopolymer), Gently Falling, Gorgeous Grunge  Inks:  Early Espresso, Old Olive  Papers:  Early Espresso, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Pear Pizzazz  Accessories:  Stampin’ Dimensionals

  1. Whoa! Love this card size and it’s long rectangular sentiment panel!! My eyes always go to the “sketch” of a card before taking in all of the elements that make it beautiful! So much eye candy here! Your grunge stamping looks like the Birch Paper from the table settings kit, love the leaf technique and that photopolymer stamp “you” is Gorgeous and popping right off the page in Green!…one of my Favorite colors! I think I should have this. 🙂

Stunning card!!! I agree with Patti, at first glance, I thought your background was the birch paper too!! But I see it is that horizontal set of lines from Gorgeous Grunge!!! Awesome pairing of stamps and a pretty leapfrog go with them!!! You are a great Thanker Brian!!!!! 🙂

  3. Oh, love it. The Gorgeous Grunge is such a versatile stamp, love what you did for the background with it. Yesterday I was wondering about the leaf and I thought that maybe you had stamped it in different color papers and then, piece it together but you did it the other way, a much easier way and it looks fabulous. Some one will be a very lucky “Thanked” person when they receive this great card from such a fantastic “Thanker”.

  4. Love it. I recognized the ‘you’ right away.

  5. Great card as always! Now off to hop!

  6. Very cool leaf! Thanks for the tip! And I love the grungy background!

  7. Super duper card Brian and you are right, our greatest blessing is the people in our lives so they deserve to be thanked as well. Your card is the perfect way to recognize the people you are thankful for. Great, great job!

  8. Yet another great tip on your leaf. Never a thought about gluing multiple card stock and stamping on it. I probably would of tried masking off and use markers. Much simpler your way. Gorgeous Grunge is great for backgrounds. I am Thankful for Brian King!

  9. very clever & creative. love the use of the polymer set.
    hugs, m

  10. Simply perfect, Brian, in every way!

  11. What a fun card! I love how you pieced the leaf, so clever…as usual!

  12. Very cool card and love the background!! I would not have noticed the photography issue. Great job!

  13. That is so cool! I love how you did the leaf. You’re so creative!

  14. Great card Brian. Love the technique!

  15. Interesting way to make the leaf Brian! So nice!

  16. What great colors! I love how you made your own background with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set!

  17. You always have the best ideas! It’s a real WOW using the different color papers to make the leaf, and perfect to send to someone you care about. TFS
