Made with Love: a PPA Sketch Challenge

I hope that each of you had a very wonderful Christmas!  Mine was pretty low-key, but that made it spectacular.  Today, I’m sharing a simple card I made for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge.  Nicole’s sketch is cute and simple.  Here’s my card:

And here’s Nicole’s sketch that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sneak Peek.  “Yay!” for another sneak peek at one of my favorite items in the Occasions Catalog – the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack.  The wait is almost over as Jan. 3 is just around the corner!  Real Red, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake and Whisper White make a perfect combination, and this striped page is proof.  As with many Designer Series Paper patterns, the colors include the original colors and shades of the original colors.  The ligher shade of Coastal Cabana looks very Pool Party, and I love it!
  • Locating the Sketch.  For this sketch challenge, I decided to switch it up a little.  I didn’t turn the sketch on its side or change it’s shape.  Instead, I fitted the card sketch to the center-most panel of the card.  The frame of Crumb Cake adds an earthy goodness to the bright stripes on the center panel.
  • Layering the Sentiment.  Nicole’s sketch showcases the Artisan Label punch.  While any shape can be used, I wanted to follow the sketch as closely as possible.  But, you also know that I love to switch things up a bit.  I cropped the center image with the 1″ Circle punch, attached it to a 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch and then attached that to punch of the Artisan Label punch.  They all work so well together.

Stamp sets:  Love You More  Papers:  Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, Crumb Cake, Real Red, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White  Inks:  Real Red  Accessories:  1″ Circle punch, 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle punch, Artisan Label punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Pals Paper Arts site and check out the cards by the other design team members.  I hope you’ll also participate in the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  9. Brian-this is great-I have to call it complex simplicity! I love letting my eye unravel the layers of circle, within scallop, within artisan label, within square, within square. So much fun!
