Sweet Treats, Part Two

Yesterday I shared a duo of Valentine candy holders I designed for this week’s challenge at The Paper Players.  If you weren’t here yesterday, here’s what you missed:

Love You to the Moon, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP181

I guess I shouldn’t say you missed it because now you’ve seen it, so you haven’t really missed anything.  You’re all up-to-date now.  Yipee!  Yesterday I shared some specifics about the gift box and coordinating tag.  The box is filled with cinnamon heart candies – just wait until you see what’s in the little pouch that’s leaning against the box – that is the focus of today’s post.  I’m going to show you what’s on the inside of the pouch and give you a quick tutorial on how to make it.  Woo hoo!

Texture

Before I move on to the tutorial, I want to share some information about the front of the pouch.  I saved this tidbit of information for today’s post – although many of you already pointed it out in your kind comments yesterday.  The image from this stamp set has a little moon around which the rocket has traveled.  The image is a little less than 1″ in diameter.  I ran a piece of Crumb Cake card stock through my Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (available during this year’s Sale-a-Bration) and punched it with a 1″ Circle punch.  I used the inverted side of the image to give the impression of the craters of the moon.

Tutorial for the Candy Gift Pouch

Before I offer a quick tutorial on this easy pouch, I suppose I should show you the inside:

What’s that inside?  Ooooh!  Chocolate!

Now that you’ve seen the inside, do you have any ideas about how this was constructed?  When I stamped for a brief spell a couple of years ago, we made lots of these and filled them with little bags of Sweet Hearts.  It was fun to make them again.  Here’s how you do it:

  • Fold an envelope in half such that the flap of the envelope is on the inside of the fold.
  • Unfold the envelope and snip the flap of the envelope at the fold.
  • Tuck the right-side flap into the envelope.
  • Lick and stick the left-side flap of the envelope.
  • Decorate the envelope, stuff it with candy and tie it shut with ribbon.

How sweet is that?!?

  1. How cute is this little envelope pouch ? You might be able to stick a gift card or a little bit of green money in there . I will have to see if I can make a few of these today . Fun ! and yes I noticed the debossed craters yesterday … I like it better than the regular side that looks like you had an allergic reaction to something . Sorry that`s the nurse in me !

  2. That little envelope pouch is so very clever! Thank you for sharing!

  3. Oh great, did you pack up those treats to send to me…..oh wait, how do you know where to send them, you don’t have my address…..ha ha ha! These are great. I’ve done that envelope trick before for holiday gift cards and decorated the front with a belly band too….super easy and oozes cuteness. I like yours better since it has chocolate inside it!!!

  4. Oh my goodness, I LOVE the envelope idea, Brian!
Maybe I can even try a couple of them, too, today, Sonny 😉
I’m so glad you took today to explain the various aspects
of the card. The box was SO CUTE that I didn’t pay enough
    attention to card!

  5. Love this envelope candy idea. Loved the moon yesterday too! I did notice but didn’t comment. I use same technique with the small dots embossing folder, and smaller punch for a golf ball. 🙂

  6. I think the best part of this envelope card is that you can now make it with any color card stock using the SU envelope maker. Without the envelope maker you wouldn’t be able to coordinate things so beautifully. Love the “set” Brian. Anyone would be thrilled to receive it.

  7. Another great blog post! Love the little treat envie. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I hope you post this project/card on your Pinterest page, Brian. I’d love to remember this one. Thanks!

  9. Clever using an envelope. So easy too. Will try to make some for my nieces. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. I saw this for Christmas and I think decorated seasonally, it’s perfect for any time I am a Stampin Up Demonstrator in Colorado and always on the look out for ideas.
