All this gloomy weather in Atlanta has me reaching for bright colors and Spring-like shapes. That’s exactly where I went when I sat down to make this 5″ x 5″ card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders:
- Layers and Layers of Beautiful. You might recognize the central image on this card as one of the great sentiments from Starburst Sayings (from the Occasions Catalog). I love this set which pairs well with the Starburst Framelit Dies (can you say, “necessary bundle”?) I embossed the image in Melon Mambo Embossing Powder on a piece of Daffodil Delight Cardstock and cropped it with the coordinating framelits. To complement the central sentiment, I cropped a circle with my Circles Collection Framelits and a flower with my Floral Frames Framelits, alternating colors at each pass. All of these clean layers really fill out this card front.
- Pearls Galore! This sentiment is designed with a whole bunch of small dots running through it. The moment I saw this set, I thought, “I wonder if one the pearl sizes would perfectly cover those dots.” Guess what! They do! I grabbed the pearls with a slightly opened pair of snips (make sure you “dig” enough under them on the sheet of pearls to make sure you don’t leave the little adhesive piece behind) and then placed them over the dots in the image.
If they aren’t perfectly aligned, you can easily nudge them a little with the scissors and then press down tightly to hold them in place. 
How cute are these letters when they are finished?
- It’s in the Details. I spend a lot of time making choices for my cards – I will keep looking until I find something that works for me. I contemplated several papers with Melon Mambo or with Daffodil Delight (including DSP stacks) before settling on this one from Gingham Garden. I love that this paper, with its little Whisper White and Melon Mambo triangles, mimics the jagged edges of the starburst cutout. I intentionally placed the paper so that the Melon Mambo triangles would point upward – it’s a happy card, right? Woo hoo!

Oh Happy Day,,indeed it is! Such a ray of sunshine. Exactly what I need today in Ohio as we had yet another 10 inches of snow dumped on us overnight, and it’s still coming down. All the pearls remind me of the old time movie theater marquee with the twinkling blinking lights. Fabulous! Such cheery colors. Thanks for brightening my snow day.
WOW, what a fabulous burst of color, love it!!! We need all the cheerful colors of Spring to be able to get by with this Winter. We woke up with more snow, so far 6″ and it’s still coming down. Lisa, I feel your pain!!

Such a “sonny” card ! Oops did I spell that wrong ? Boy oh boy you really got great use of all your Framelits with this one . Thank you for the suggestions on how to frame this big boy ! This is indeed a true example of how sharp that creative mind of yours works . Love it ! Atlanta might be gloomy but,at least it`s snowless ! We had 62 here yesterday in N.C.

Such a cheerful card! (But doesn’t embossing powder give you the glitter heebeegeebies?) That card will chase anyone’s winter blues away!
Cindie – I have no problems with embossing powder. If it gets on my work space, I just wipe it away. Doesn’t seem to have that “sticks to everything” quality of glitter. Ugh, glitter.
Sorry, I am so dumb, but I do not understand how you did the melon embossing. I just love it!!
Joy – This stamp has a negative image for stamping – if you inked it up, the ink would saturate all of the areas EXCEPT for the letters. I inked the stamp with VersaMark and used Melon Mambo embossing powder on Daffodil Delight paper. Does that help?
Hi Brian, I LOVE your card and especially the pearls! I’m sick of winter too. I’m home from teaching today because of another snow day. At this rate I’ll be in school until July. The only good thing about this winter is that I’ve had lots of extra time in my craft room!
