Saturdays are all about Clean and Simple projects here at Stamp With Brian. While today’s project is clean, it can be a little messy to make, which isn’t really all that clean at all (more on that later). This week’s challenge at The Card Concept is to create a project with a Floral Theme. Clean. Simple. Floral. Here’s my project:
- Color. A floral theme brings reds, pinks, oranges and yellows to mind. I wanted to do something a little different, though, so I challenged myself to make a card with brown flowers. Dumb, right? Why do I have to make things so complicated for myself? That’s when I remembered that Naturals Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper has a page FULL of flowers. Bingo!
- Whitewashing the Flowers. So, this is a technique I fell in love with this time last year and showcased at Convention last year. With an AquaPainter that’s dedicated to white craft ink, I painted globs of white craft ink over the paper and then wiped it off with a paper towel. How easy is that – to get a gorgeous effect. To see other projects I’ve made with this technique, click here and here.
- Layering. Did you notice that the whitewashed layer lines up perfectly with the non-whitewashed layer? I had to cut into two pieces of DSP to get the look, but it was well worth it (in my humble opinion). The “hi” is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the opposite side of the Designer Series Paper.
