Spring Thanks for The Paper Players

The Paper Players are requesting a multi-themed card this week with their “Thankful for Spring” challenge.  The Design Team wants to see thank you cards inspired by Spring, so that’s what I’m delivering.  For this week’s challenge, I reached for Peaceful Petals, a great floral set from the Occasions Catalog, and Simply Celebrate, a beautifully bold sentiment set from the same book.  Here’s my card:

Peaceful Petals, Simply Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP185

And here’s the challenge banner from The Paper Players:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • The Bold and the Beautiful.  The flowers are from Peacefull Petals, and the sentiment is from Simply Celebrate.  I love the juxtaposition of the detailed florals against the bold, modern sentiment here.  That was by design.  From the very start, I knew I would combine these two stamps – images you wouldn’t necessarily expect together.
  • Stamp-a-ma-Spring-Background.  With all the frills and details in these floral images, I wanted to make sure they didn’t overlap with each other on the base of this card.  I brought in my Stamp-a-ma-jig for support.  Woo hoo!  The flowers alternate between stamped in-full and stamped-off once to give a little depth to the images.  To see my video about how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig, CLICK HERE.Peaceful Petals, Simply Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP185
  • Adequate White Space.  With all the action going on at the bottom of this card, I needed to make sure there was “adequate white space” on the top of the card.  In my clean-and-tailored fashion, the white space is uber-important on this card and speaks as loudly as the floral pattern.

Stamp sets:  Peaceful Petals, Simply Celebrate  Papers:  Primrose Petals, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White  Inks:  Primrose Petals, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi  Accessories: Circles Collection Framelits, 2-1/2″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (Primrose Petals)

Super-Spring-y & Gracefully Grateful card Brian!! Great choices for colors here too!!! Is that Gumball Green, Pumpkin Pie, and Primrose Petals with Whisper White? My second guess is Tangerine Tango and Strawberry Slush ink, but the ribbon must be Primrose Petals for sure. 😉 Thank YOU for helping me start this Monday with a flower-y state of mind!!! 🙂

    • Doh! I forgot to list my supplies last night but have since added them. The colors are Primrose Petals, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White. You have a good eye – that Wild Wasabi can be tricky because it transforms with the colors around it.

Thank you Brian!! I attribute my good eye to eating fresh, brightly-colored (Tangerine Tango-ish) carrots at least three times each week!! My other eye is interested in (or rather, obsessed with) SU colors an their names!! 😉

  2. It was nice to see you use this stamp set. It’s a great set that hasn’t seen much attention.

  3. Brian, I love the colors and the pretty patterned paper you’ve created! I rely on my friend the stampamajig a lot, too! Great project for our challenge and I thank you for playing along! (hugs) Sandy

  4. Love the DSP you created with this pretty stamp set. Sometimes, the patters and colors on DSP are so beautiful on both sides that it’s hard to pick the one that will be showing on the card and the one that will be forever hidden.
The Stamp-a-magig is one must have tool, you gave a great example of how important it is to use it correctly, this flowers and leaves are perfectly stamped.
Lovely Spring card, thank you for sharing it and for your great tips about this great tool.

  5. Hi Brian, Love this card and the “spring” theme, as snow is falling again outside. The DSP you created is just great. Didn’t know it was an original until I started reading the blog. Beautiful, such patience too! I also use the stamp-a-ma-jig all the time. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
