Since the moment the first pack of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper graced my front door step (thanks, Mr. Brown!), I have been in love. Each page of patterns and colors is as gorgeous as the next. There’s one page that I have yet to use – it’s filled with beautifully water colored circles, large spots of Island Indigo, Gumball Green, Tangerine Tango and Smoky Slate. This week’s Freshly Made Sketches sketch has inspired me to use that piece of paper. Ta da!

And here’s the banner challenge from Freshly Made Sketches:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- A Highlighted Border. Daffodil Delight is as close as it gets to an old-fashioned highlighter. Reminds me of college days when my entire text book was yellow – had to remember everything. I knew I wanted to pair Island Indigo with this paper, so I let Daffodil Delight shine with a thin border around most of the layers.
- Wrap-a-Band. With all the layers on this card, I didn’t want to add a layer of ribbon, but the sketch calls for it. I played around with a banner that happily pokes out of the sides of the sentiment circle. That didn’t work either. To “tie up loose ends”, I wrapped the card stock band around the card and glued it there. And, that’s how you wrap-a-band.
- Not too busy. There are so many options for the piece behind the slanted piece. I didn’t want to add another color, and it certainly couldn’t be Island Indigo (it would blend into the background piece), and Daffodil Delight wouldn’t do (it wouldn’t really work against the border of the slanted piece). It all made sense that Whisper White would be my background piece – just what I needed to perfectly balance everything out.

Absolutely fab card! You have such a way of combining colours and make them look so right together Brian! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
I saw this sketch the other day – a unique sketch. It caught my eye right away. Great choice for your “focal” DSP. The belly band is a nice alternative to ribbon …
I did see this sketch and thought it was unique…artsy is what I like to call it. Cute! I think I now need that paper!
Brian I love your card. The Whisper White card stock was the perfect choice for the back panel. What a fun layout and a fun birthday card.
Is it possible to have the measurements for this card? Love the colors you chose:)
Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun card! I really love the watercolor DSP – it’s all so gorgeous. Your card is one that makes me smile and that makes it a winner in my book.
Love this, Brian! Great, happy colors and that layer of white really makes everything pop.
A Beauty!
I really really like this paper and what bothers me is that it will be gone in a couple of months ! Your card is so cute and I like this sketch because I wouldn`t stress over whether everything was straight . And these colors are perfect . Who wouldn`t like Daffodil Delight ? Love it !
Yes, the WW paper is so fun to work with, the color combos are right down my ally! Your card from this sketch is super…..and white is the new neutral! It makes so much sense, yet I don’t think I would have thought of using it, lol.
You are always giving us ideas, Brian, thanks! Love this card.
I love this card, Brian! All the layers and matting really show off the lines of the sketch, and the colors/papers are awesome. That sentiment is perfect with the DSP! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!
Brian this card is absolutely wonderful. As I have said before, simplicity is my style and this one really catches the eye. I love the colors and the white background really makes it pop. This paper is a must have. Thanks for sharing.

Very impressed you were able to get all of the angles the same. Really nice card and yes, love the water color colors.
This card is fabulous,Brian!! I LOVE these papers and colors you’ve choose!! So awesome!!
Thank you for joining us at FMS!!!
Ditto regarding Cindy Hall’s statement!! Another amazing card! 🙂
Overall nice card. Using a belly band is a great alternative and less bulk for mailing. The DSP reminds me of blowing bubbles outside as a kid. As you watch them float through the air with the sun reflecting all the colors of the rainbow. Of course, big kids can blow bubbles too!
What a great card! I would say that you definitely hit on all of the must haves for this challenge! I agree that the whisper white was necessary to ground this card!! Somebody is going to be very happy to receive this card!! TFS and good luck in the challenge!
Another winner! I love the color combo of daffodil delight and island indigo. Great choice, as always. You have a wonderful eye for color.
Ooooh, this is fabulous!
