Sunday – Friday Mashup FM151

Happy Monday!  It was a wet and dreary Sunday in Atlanta, so I was super-excited to see the weekly challenges from The Paper Players and Friday Mashup.  The Paper Players Team challenges us to make a Clean-and-Simple Spring-themed card, and Friday Mashup Team challenges us to make a project with rainbows or rainbow colors, a sketch or both – I chose the rainbow colors and then mashed them up with the Spring challenge.  Here’s your two-for-one:

Fabulous Florets, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP187, FM151

And here are the challenge banners from The Paper Players and Friday Mashup Challenges (click on either banner to see the challenge pages or to check out the cards from those designers):

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Unconventional Size.  This card base measures 7-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and is scored at 2-3/4″.  It’s not your typical card size, but I really wanted the base to be long and thin to allow the flowers to dance across the page.  Any shorter, and the flowers would be piled on top of each other.  Any taller, and the sentiment wouldn’t be snuggly tucked in the corner.
  • A Whimsical Array of Flowers.  These flowers are built (from bottom-to-top) with the Petite Petals punch, the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a Candy Dot.  Easy as that.  My original design featured a straight line of flowers.  Right before gluing down the flowers, I decided to arrange them in a wave.  This adds the perfect amount of whimsy to this clean-and-simple card.Fabulous Florets, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP187, FM151
  • Colors.  In school, we learned that the rainbow is made of ROYGBIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet).  To create this rainbow of flowers, I used Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Island Indigo and Elegant Eggplant.  So bright, so beautiful.
