Hooray for Simple Saturday

In the long-standing tradition of Simple Saturday, I have a quick-and-easy card to share with you today.  OK, so maybe a couple of months doesn’t count as a long-standing tradition, but I’m working on it.  🙂  Today’s card features items from Stampin’ Up!’s Kaleidoscope Suite of products available in the Occasions Catalog.  I used this card in one of my workshops two weeks ago, and today I am happy to share it with you.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

• Inspiration.  Almost all components of this card are inspired by the base strip of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper.  The colors (Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Strawberry Slush, Basic Black, Basic Gray and Whisper White) are pulled directly from the DSP.  In addition, the triangle shapes and patterns are inspired from the paper.  The other elements of the card tie in nicely with the DSP because they are inspired by the DSP.
• Balance of Three.  You already know how fond I am of threes – in comedy, in cards and on tripods.  I added three triangles here – two in Strawberry Slush and one in Crushed Curry.  To balance the colors I separated the two Strawberry Slush triangles along the horizontal and verticals lines (each Strawberry Slush triangle pairs with a Crushed Curry triangle if lines were to be drawn vertically or horizontally, but the two Strawberry Slush triangles are connected neither horizontally nor vertically).
• No Borders.  I typically add a thin border around bands on my cards.  That extra band makes a difference.  I didn’t border this strip of DSP with an extra strip of cardstock because the card was designed for a workshop.  You have to keep things pretty basic and do-able.  That’s also important on Simple Saturday, so it fit in nicely here.
