What happens when three soft, beautiful colors come together? Happiness ensues. This week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge (Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron) is overflowing with happiness. For me, these three colors represent the first pops of Spring and a delicious sherbert once Summer makes its way in.
Here’s my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- A Repurposed Image. Do you recognize the greenery on this card? To create a spray of leaves along the sentimental emblem, I stamped the tree from Thoughts & Prayers. Where did I get this idea? I CASED it from me – I created a similar look on a card I created last year (see that card here). When I first saw this color combination, I immediately knew I wanted to recreate this look.
- Will it Stamp? I really wasn’t sure if the Pear Pizzazz ink would show up well if stamped on this piece of So Saffron Designer Series Paper from I Am Me. I needed to try it out before I cut the paper and started stamping away, so I stamped the tree’s leaves on the corner of the paper that houses the (c) Stampin’ Up! watermark. Every page of DSP has this watermark, and we don’t want that showing up on our card fronts, so that’s the best corner for a “test run.”
- Rounded Softness. I really love the softness of these colors and the soft edges of the ovals and the soft feel of the leaves in these sprays. After the card pieces were all cut (but before they were glued down), I realized I needed the corners to be rounded to continue with the softness of the rest of the card.
Stamp sets: Happy Watercolor, Thoughts & Prayers Papers: Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron Inks: Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz Accessories: Ovals Collection Framelits, 3/16″ Corner punch, Subtles Candy Dots (Calypso Coral), Stampin’ Dimensionals

I like it ! Well, just look at the color combo, rounded corners ,ovals, candy dots…. I don`t like it …I love it ! The details in your card just make it special. Look where you put the color splash ! And the green leafy branches on the dsp. You do remember my address don`t you ? (smile)
Soft and lovely!

Your card makes ME happy! These are soft, happy colors! Wonderful!
So clever Brian! I love last year’s card too – don’t know how I missed that one. Two very pretty cards!
Such a soft and beautiful card Brian!
Beautiful card with a beautiful color combination!
Yes, it does put a happy warm smile on my face. I love the Thoughts & Prayers set. It’s one of the first sympathy sets I purchased. Never crossed my mind to use the branches for a background effect. This is a great color combo.
I love the way you show us how to use stamps we never thought about using in so many different ways! You are genius!
Clean and classic. A signature “Brian King” card!
Beautiful card…
I love everything about this card!
Love the card Brian! Such soft colors, will have to make this one.
Hummmmm…. I never think to stamp on the DSP. I must try that. Thanks for the inspiration.
What a “happy” card! 🙂 I thought I recognized the “repurposed image” on this card! Wonderful CAS card as usual Brian! Did you get with Ann and decide to use the same background DSP or is it that great minds think a like?!! Yes, I follow Pals Paper Arts and have for a very long time as well as Ann! 🙂
Step one in a color challenge for me – scan my DSP selections to find a paper with one or more of the colors (I use my handy DSP Swatch Books). I guess great minds think alike. 🙂
Now you have done it. The song Happy from Despicable Me is now stuck in my head. I really like your soft and beautiful card.
What a clever way to use this stamp, love the way this branches stream out from under the sentiment. So clean and fresh, fabulous color combination and the rounded corners really make it softer and elegant.
Beautiful card Brian, the soft colors make me think of the beginning of Spring.
BEAUTIFUL!! I love the use of the tree as a spray. Very clever idea! Thanks for another great tip!
Love it Brian… it instantly put a smile on my face. So glad I make you happy. 😉
I have one word for you Brian: “wow”!

Such a stunning card, Brian! I never think to round the corners but I love the look!
