Happy with a Paint Chip

It’s Simple Saturday.  Let’s do this thing!  Woo hoo!

This is not a new technique – but it might be new to you, so I am happy to share this happy, little card.  If just one person gets as excited about this as I did when I first saw it, then my job here is done.  🙂  With just a few layers on a notecard, this project definitely falls into the “Simple Saturday” bucket.  Bright.  Cheery.  Quick.  Easy.

Here’s my card:

Hello Lovely, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FM156I am submitting this card to the Friday Mashup challenge – one of the two challenges is to create a card with an ombre background (graduation of colors).  Here’s the challenge banner for Friday Mashup:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Painter’s Chip.  When I was having my living room painted last year, I spent a lot of time at Sherwin Williams.  While I ultimately decided on warm tan, I left the store with a bunch of paint swatches – those little sampler sheets they give us to take home and match against our current colors.  Maybe I never intended to paint my walls yellow, but I snatched up a couple of those chips, too.  Crop it.  Border it with paper.  Stamp on it.  !Viola!
  • Little Black Flowers.  Who would think black flowers would be cute?  Certainly not I.  When paired with beautiful pearls, though, these black flowers are a perfect accent to this happy, sunny backdrop.  I considered Whisper White candy dots, Crushed Curry candy dots and Melon Mambo candy dots but decided pearls would be the perfect accent here.
  • Threes.  You already know I love threes.  If you don’t know it, I love threes.  There’s perfect balance in threes.  An odd number makes things even – isn’t that odd?  There are three yellow panels on this card, coupled with three little flowers.

Stamp sets:  You’re Lovely  Papers:  Whisper White Notecard, Basic Black  Inks:  JetBlack StazOn  Accessories:  Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Basic Jewel Pearls

I paired this card with a Watercolor Wonder Envelope Liner (the paper pulls in a mix of Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry, so it’s a perfect accent to this yellow background).
