When I saw that the “Dude, You’re Welcome” Kit is included in the upcoming catalog, I cheered with joy. While I don’t particularly love the “manliness” of the kit, I do see lots of potential with the stamps included in the kit. When you add some color and add some whimsy, these stamps really come to life. I used the “Special Occasion” stamp to create a colorful, fun card with this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Snippy McSnips-a-Lot. You already know I like to snip away at tiny pieces of paper. It’s kinda’ become my trademark, right? This “Special Occasion” emblem precedes the Starburst Framelits, so the framelits don’t really match up with its jagged edges. I went to snipping around the edge of the shape – and then around the inside edges of the center piece. Combine them together, and you have a big, fun, colorful accent for any kind of celebration.
- Birthday in Three Panels. How would I break up a sentiment along these three panels? I thought I’d have an exhaustive search ahead of me, but I went straight to the whimsical font from Remembering Your Birthday. Although “fun and presents too! Happy Birthday” is all included on one stamp, they were super-easy to break up. I simply added a piece of tape to the part of the sentiment I didn’t want to use, inked up the stamp and then removed the tape before stamping on the white paper.
- Color Scheme. Birthdays should be bright and cheery, right? When done right, a cheery birthday greeting can be appropriate for a boy or a girl. Even though this card has a bunch of pink, it has just enough blue to make it friendly for either gender. Would you agree?

I looked at the others card at PPA and your ‘s really stick out with these bright funny great colours ! I would not give it to a boy , for most boys there is to much pink 🙂 . I really like how you broke this sentence apart and it seems that is this way it ment to be on a card, it just look right ! Greetings Anita

Love your color choices. I would gift it to a boy, all colors are for all people, in my opinion! (I gave one of my sons a doll and doll carriage for his 3rd Christmas…that summer he was playing outside and came up to the door with the carriage full of dirt! Now he owns a landscaping company and two dump trucks!!) : )
I love this story, Dawn. People make such an effort to say “boys like this” and “girls like that” at an early age – it’s decided for them. I never played with dolls, but my mom was very good about exposing us to different things (crafts, sports, reading, singing, church) so that each of us could develop our own thoughts and likes. My favorite toy growing up? A cash register. I am an accountant. 🙂

Really cute card ! A lot of work went into it . I think the design and colors are very versatile . And Dawn`s story made me laugh ! We had a little fella next door years ago who had a Betsy Wetsy and that poor doll was tortured with boy antics . He was only 3 or 4 also . Happy Thursday !

Good you had that note about breaking up the stamp. Just a piece of advice, the part about removing the tape before you stamp should be in bold and italics. Can you imagine why I think someone might forget that step?!

Well Brian, you are indeed the King when it comes to paper snipping, what a wonderful job you did with this card, what patience and precision went into the beautiful snipped blue and pink greeting.
