A FabFri Color Challenge & a Sneak Peek

The Fab Friday Design Team is giving us quite a wonderful color challenge this week.  Four colors – Crisp Cantaloupe, Summer Starfruit, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party.  Sounds like summer party, doesn’t it?  Summer, Coastal, Pool, Cantaloupe.  While I focused on the blues for this baby card, the starfruit and cantaloupe play a very important part.  Here’s my card:

Something for Baby, A Dozen Thoughts, Something to Say, Stampin Up!, Brian King, FabFri42 And here’s the challenge banner from this week’s FabFri challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • I’ve Got the Blues.  Both pieces of designer paper that comprise the background of this card are from Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper.  While the most central piece is much lighter, both are representative of Coastal Cabana – the DSPs often include paler versions of the colors in the paper.  While the color looks very similar to Pool Party, it’s not Pool party.  The baby onesie is stamped in Pool Party.Something for Baby, A Dozen Thoughts, Something to Say, Stampin Up!, Brian King, FabFri42
  • Sneak Peek.  This card features a Sneak Peek at the upcoming Something for Baby bundle – a stamp set with coordinating framelits.  The set contains a onesie, a carriage, booties, a ducky, a clothespin, a flower, a bib, a tie, a hanger and a toy.  EVERYTHING you need for an adorable baby card.  The card also features a heart from the upcoming Something to Say with the coordinating punch pack.
  • Pattern Placement.  Did you know that I love patterned papers?  I’ve not done an excellent job of hiding that.  🙂  I knew I wanted to use these two pieces of paper that feature shades of Coastal Cabana.  Because I didn’t want the paper print to distract from the images in the center of the card, I used the tighter, smaller print in the center and the striped piece on the outskirts of the card.  The stripes seem to draw my eye to the center of the card where all the action is happening.

Stamp Sets:  Something for Baby, Something to Say, A Dozen Thoughts  Papers:  Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla, Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper  Inks:  Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Summer Starfruit, Crisp Cantaloupe  Accessories:  Baby’s First Framelits, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Ovals Collection Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals

  14. How absolutely adorable and beautiful card, the DSP with the stripes is a show stopper but I’m glad you chose it as a background, putting it behind the little onesie would have been way to distracting. 😉 Love your thought process, it’s always right on the money.
