I’ve really been digging my Project Life supplies lately – in yesterday’s post, I shared my very own video introduction to Project Life. Today’s post features a brand new card AND a brand new video AND a picture of the scrapbook page from yesterday’s video – please don’t leave before you’ve seen them all!
THE CARD
It hard to believe that my friends (who are my age) have children who are old enough to graduate from high school. Is that really possible?! Either way, I’ve made the fifth or sixth graduation card of the season, and I think this one is my last. Woo hoo! This card was inspired by the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and the color combination over at The Card Concept. Here’s my card:
Here’s Jennifer Timko’s sketch that inspired this card:
And here’s the color challenge from The Card Concept that inspired my color choices:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Everyday Adventure Project Life Kit. This card started with this die-cut piece of card stock from the Everyday Adventure Project Life Kit. I love the chevrons as they are but nervously snipped away one band of them to create an opening to add the “congratulations.” While these pieces are designed to coordinate with Project Life projects, they work well in card making, too.

- That Brain Stamp Set. I would like to remind you that tomorrow is the last day for many items in the Occasions Catalog that didn’t make the cut into the 2014-2015 Annual Catalog. This Pomp & Circumstance stamp set (AKA the brain stamp set) is one of them. I ordered this set because it is flexible to be used on so many different occasions – graduation, congratulations, Halloween. The list goes on. 🙂

- Clean and Layered. There are several layers of card stock on this project, but the overall look is still very clean. While there are several elements on this card front – ribbon, die-cut chevrons, heat embossing, snipping, layering, corner-rounding – there’s really not a lot going on here. Score!
Stamp Sets: Pomp & Circumstance Papers: Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Whisper White, Everyday Adventure Project Life Kit Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Pad Accessories: 1-1/4″ Circle punch, 1-3/8″ Circle punch, Project Life Corner punch, 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon (Basic Black), White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Stampin Dimensionals
THE VIDEO
If the card isn’t enough, I’m also sharing Part 2 of my Project Life video. Since there are two videos, I guess you could say this is “the second in a series of videos”. That sounds SOOO professional, doesn’t it? Anyway, if you missed yesterday’s video, please check it out here.
PLEASE BE FOREWARNED: I filmed this video the same day as yesterday’s video – there are still no pillows on the chairs, and the shelves look as empty as they were in yesterday’s video. 🙂 Here’s my video:

THE SCRAPBOOK PAGE
I shared my Project Life scrapbook page in yesterday’s video, so I figured I’d share a picture of the page today. Wow! There’s a lot going on today, huh?
I hope you have enjoyed these Project Life items as much as I have enjoyed sharing them with you.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Nicely done Brian! Your card is gorgeous in its simplicity and your video is a great follow on for PL. Have a great weekend!
Love your card. I will watch the video later. Happy weekend.
Love the videos! You are adorable! And loved the so called “random” card you chose. lol Was looking for another graduation card idea. Yours is perfect. Thanks!
Ok Brian you sold me. I will be placing an order this coming week. I love it. Thanks. You are so inspiring to so many. Have a great day. From Virginia Beach with love.
What a great card, and such a ingenious way to use PL. After watching the videos I’m definitely looking at PL from a different perspective. Thanks Brian
That particular “Random” photo could be blown up to poster size for your Fungeon !
Just saying … I like PL even though it`s not the way I used to scrapbook . It offers so many options and it`s cute and quick . And who doesn`t like your videos ? I noticed one has gotten over 4,000 viewers …Wow!
Brian, this is hands-down the best card I’ve seen using this sketch. Love it!
Great card and scrapbook page! I’ve been a scrapper for over 15 years and I appreciate your inspiration.
Very clever Brian. Best wishes with your open house today.
Great card! Love how you snipped to make space for the sentiment!
At our Stamping Peace Team Meeting this morning the topic of videos came up. It was pointed out that women bloggers just show their hands, but Brian King shows his whole body. I didn’t have an answer for that one. : )
Dawn, Brian King does not show his WHOLE body – he would certainly be banned from the internet! 🙂 In all seriousness, I think it’s the best way for me to connect to my audience. I talk with my hands, but all of my expression and emotion is in my face. I started out making “chopped-off head” videos, but those didn’t feel right to me. It’s harder to get ready for a full-on video (I have to shave and comb my hair), but it seems like the better option for me. 🙂
Ha ha! Don’t we have fun in the “stamping world!” We love your videos!!! : )
Great graduation card – gender neutral, classic but with a modern twist – perfect! So glad you joined us at The Card Concept!
Great card Brian! Love the colors and the idea of using PL items for card making. For some reason, my brain didn’t wrap around the idea that it’s all interchangeable. I was never really into the Project Life as I was an old fashioned scrapbooker. Now I’ll be rethinking these things!
I just come back and see another wonderful card. I ordered these stamp set and this is a wonderful idea for boys. I will keep this idea in mind, when my son will be (hopefully) gratuated in a few years.
Great card Brian! I love the colours! Perfect for a graduation card! I love what you’ve done with the Project Life card! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
Awesome grad card…just love Chevrons
