Nothing with You for The Paper Players and Pals Paper Arts

This week’s Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from The Paper Players works hand-in-hand with the color challenge from The Pals Paper Arts, so I’m doing a little double-duty with today’s card.  I decided to make a tailored and elegant card that shows how lovely Pool Party, Lost Lagoon and Basic Gray can look together.  Even with the addition of rhinestones, this card is perfect for the man in your life – beautiful but not pretty.  🙂

Here’s my card:

And here’s the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from The Paper Players (I chose the middle, vertical row – any shade of blue, patterned paper and pearls or rhinestones):

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Classic Argyle.   When the new catalog was released, I told you that Flashback would be my favorite new Designer Series Paper.  I’m proud to say I was right – here it is again.  🙂  This blue and gray patterned paper screams masculine to me.  It reminds me of argyle socks or an argyle vest.  When the rhinestones are added, the pattern is reminiscent of a tufted chair or pillow – tailored and clean – something you might find in the lobby of a swanky hotel.
  • Coloring Rhinestones.  I love that we can add color to pearls and rhinestones with the new Blendabilities.  I used the lightest shade of the Coastal Cabana Assortment to simply paint over the rhinestones before I removed them and placed them at each crossing of the Basic Gray lines.  Rhinestones are not normally associated with masculine cards, but blue rhinestones are a little more special.
  • Don’t Miss the Sentiment.  I’ve shared this before, but I’m happy to share it again.  I love this sentiment:  “I’d rather do nothing with you than something with anyone else.”  It’s such a sweet sentiment – we should all be so happy to have that kind of person in our lives.  It’s hidden in the From My Heart stamp set – if you missed it, check it out again.

  1. Very nice Brian! I love that sentiment also. The DSP is so perfect for this card. Have a great day.

  2. Love the extra “Lost Lagoon” border!

  3. Love this card. So beautiful.

  4. Awwww….I like this card ! As you said that sentiment is a doozie . Color and sparkle really make this card special in a soft understated way .
Now that I have said all of that ….go take a peek at Kelly`s blog ! Don`t tell I told you !!

  5. Perfect card for both challenges. I do love this pattern of DSP. The Coastal Cabana rhinestones are a perfect compliment to this masculine card.

  6. Love the colors, but I think it’s the DSP and rhinestones that add the real pop to your card. Beautiful, as is your usual style.

  7. This card is gorgeous!

  8. I, too, love that sentiment. It says a whole lot of loving, caring, attention is going on in that relationship. It’s quiet and steady instead of a flash in the pan, which is just so much drama. Now, speaking of drama, I LOVE the colored rhinestones you added to this knock out paper! Thanks for the push in that direction in my own crafting. Might just try a smudge of that with some of those fantabulouso sequins’. Have a great weekend!

  9. I love the Flashback DSP too. Your card is so very nice, perfect use of this particular pattern.

  10. Wow, this DSP is perfect for what you did. And wow also, that’s a lot of rhinestones. Very neat card, love it.
