Celebrating You with PPA211

I am in love with this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge:  Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White.  I am excited when a challenge limits us to either Whisper White or Very Vanilla.  It really adds that extra challenge to the project.  I had no problem with Whisper White here, as it’s the background color for Sweet Taffy – the Designer Series Paper that features Daffodil Delight.  Here’s my project for this week’s challenge:

Fabulous Four, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA211And here’s the banner for this week’s color challenge:PPA211Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Straighten It Out.  I love to play around with Designer Series Paper.  When a paper has straight lines, I like to position them on a project at a diagonal.  When a paper has diagonal lines…you guessed it (you’re so smart!)…I like to position them on a project horizontally or vertically.  It really gives a lot of options for each pattern of paper.  These stripes look completely different when positioned horizontally on this card.  Yippee!
  • Tiny Dimensionals.  These [randomly] scattered stars are really small.  I could have glued them down to blend in with the background, or I could have popped some of them up.  I would have liked either option just as much as popping them all up.  It was just a choice (again, yippee for options).  I had to really cut into the edges of my Stampin’ Dimensionals to get pieces small enough to back these stars – yet another reason to save those leftovers from the Dimensionals pack.
  • Let the Sentiment Breathe.  Again, options.  I could have layered a couple of stars on the clean, white oval where the sentiment lives.  I LOVE the font of this sentiment, so I decided to honor that white space and let the sentiment breathe a little bit.  I didn’t want my celebration of you to be crowded out by some unwanted or unnecessary stars.

This is a super-fun color combination, and I hope you’ll play along with us this week.  Please head over to the Pals Paper Arts site to check out the project by the other designers (I’ve seen them already, and you won’t be sorry).  🙂

  15. Oh boy Brian – I really went “wacky doodle” over this card. The color combo is soothing and yet invigorating, the popped up stars remind me of the sky on a cold winters night when I want to reach up and touch them, the layout gives the feeling of movement around the stationary ovals and, of course, the sentiment is one of my favorites. I can’t think of an occasion this layout couldn’t be adapted for. Can you tell I really love this card? LOL
