A Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek for Simple Saturday

When I was playing around with my new Perfect Print Numbers Bigz Dies a couple of weeks ago, I cropped a couple of hearts that have been sitting on the edge of my desk ever since.  A cropped heart gives you a thin outline of a heart along with a smaller, solid heart (the piece that’s cut out from the inside of the heart).  I was most intrigued by the thin outlines so I decided to use them in today’s Simple Saturday project.  Here’s my card:

Good Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • I Love Us.  Every once in a while, a sentiment comes along that makes me very happy.  Good Greetings is a Hostess set in the upcoming Holiday Catalog – and it’s full of great sayings that are styled in a cool script.  There’s a variety of sayings for all occasions, but the concept of “I love us” really stood out to me as unique and cool.  Demonstrators were able to earn this set in June.  Customers will be able to purchase it as a Hostess set starting August 28.
  • Chain, Chain, Chain.  Chain, Chain, Chain. Chain of Hearts.  It wasn’t good enough for me to just set the hearts on top of one another or side-by-side.  I wanted the hearts to interlock (like the Olympic rings).  In order to do that, I snipped one heart in the place where the heart would pass behind.  I wove the heart through and then carefully glued it down.  Cute, huh?Good Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingGood Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Color Progression.  I used four hearts (I know, I know, it’s not three) and then added the sentiment in the bottom, right.  The hearts move from dark-to-light.  After Night-of-Navy, I chose the blues with the most aqua in them.  The colors (left-to-right) are Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Pool Party.  I stamped the super-fun sentiment in Night of Navy to pull the Navy from the left side of the card.

Wish there was a way to delete my comment & to try again! ;p

It was supposed to say only (where did inky come from?!)
& way you made them (NOT youth dithers)!!!!!

      • LOL — I kinda liked your original comment. Thought maybe you were getting Shakespearish.

      • Jennifer – I forgot to comment on this (I had to approve them yesterday morning). One of my favorite comments ever! I might adopt the phrase “the way youths dither interlock” into my day-to-day speech. 🙂 I know how frustrating AutoCorrect can be – but it gives us lots to laugh about. 🙂 …and thanks for your kind comment.

  2. It’s Awesome!! There are 5 Olympic Rings so you do what makes you happy here it is Fabulous in an Ombre look! Happy Saturday!

  3. There are no layers? Are you ok? Lol. This is a beautiful card. When I read that sentiment yesterday, I said to myself, “What does that mean?” I so glad you helped me to understand. Have fun next week!

Love the simple but elegant look….and thanks for sharing how you interlocked the hearts!! I am a new demonstrator and am always happy when I can learn something that I can add to my “knowledge” bag.

  7. I have to agree with Gigi………….my first thought when looking at this card was “Is Brian all right? There are no layers on this card!”. That thought was followed by an intake of breath at the way this card took me right to the nitty gritty of what it was saying. I too really love the “I love us” phrase. It’s one of the few phrases that is so versatile when describing any kind of relationship from close friends to wonderful co-workers to husband and wife. This card may appear simple but it took my breath away.
