Good to the Last Bite

Stampin’ Up! is going to be so helpful when the holidays roll around.  Although they are officially “kicked off” with Halloween, I don’t really think of Halloween as a big holiday for sending cards.  Sure, there will inevitably be Halloween party invitations, right?  But the bulk of our Halloween crafting comes with fun packaging for kids’ treats or decorations for our Halloween parties.  Here’s bag of cookies, all dressed up for Halloween:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Bag it Up!  The new Holiday Catalog is jam-packed with great packaging ideas (take-out boxes, gift card holders, and curvy keepsake boxes).  On of my favorites, though, is the Petite Cafe Gift Bags.  These food safe bags are poly-lined so they have a waxy interior that’s perfect for homemade treats.  The bags measure approximately 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ x 8″.  With two tin tie closures, the bags can easily be resized and resealed.
  • Top it!  These bags are super-cute, but I wanted to create a fun and lively topper.  The topper is a piece of Basic Black card stock that’s scored and covered with a piece of Back to Black Designer Series paper.  I colored the entire panel of paper with a Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities Marker.  The topper is glued to the front of the bag and loose on the back of the bag.  I heat embossed this super-fun “good to the last bite” image from Merry Everything and punched it with the Note Tag punch.  I added two banners to the side and some Pumpkin Pie Fringe.    Merry Everything, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Don’t Forget About the Back.  While I didn’t decorate the back of the bag, I did add another tag from the same set to identify the special friend who is receiving these cookies.  Everyone likes to see their name in print, right Sonny?  That little touch on the back of the gift makes the gift all that more special.    Merry Everything, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Halloween is great, love it and I wish I could bake this kinds of goodies for the parade of little kids who will come knocking at my door but unfortunately you can’t give out anything that is not store bought to them but, for my grandkids, I always make them fudge and cookies for their special bags.
