Baby, It’s Cold Outside

So many of the products in Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog are versatile for projects outside of the holidays they were designed for.  What a value!  If you don’t use it now, you’ve got plenty of time.  From the moment I opened All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper, I knew I’d be using that paper to make this card:

Baby We've Grown, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FM176OK, so I knew I’d be making a baby card, but I didn’t know it would be this cute.  🙂  The layout of this card is inspired by this week’s sketch challenge at The Friday Mashup.  Here’s the sketch:FM176Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Patterns and Color.  Not only do the big polka dots and soft stripes say “adorable baby,” but the pale blues and greens on a backdrop of crisp white are perfect for a baby card.  I’ve really begun to love Pear Pizzazz, and it’s pairing with Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky is divine.  Together, they are perfect.
  • Rub his Belly.  As if this bunny isn’t cute enough, I made his little belly the focus of his cuteness.  I stamped him on Smoky Slate cardstock and then colored his belly with my Stampin’ Chalk Marker.  I simply colored it over and over and over until it was completely white – makes you want to rub his belly.Baby We've Grown, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FM176
  • Flagged Ends.  The sketch begs for a band between the two pieces of Designer Series Paper.  To add a little interest, I cut my 1/4″ strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock just a tad longer than the panel beneath it and then snipped the ends with the corners of my Hexagon punch.

Stamp Sets:  Baby We’ve Grown  Papers:  Lost Lagoon, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper  Inks:  Jet Black Stazon, Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Maker  Accessories:  1-1/2″ Circle punch, Circles Collection Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Hexagon punch (for banner tips)
