A New Video and Believe for FabFriday

Sometimes the simplest elements on a card can have the most impact.  This week’s FabFriday sketch is super-simple (my favorite kind), which leaves the playing field wide open.  I created a fun Christmas card that features a bold strip of Santa & Co. Designer Series Paper, images from two photopolymer stamp sets, and a sentiment from Good Greetings.  I’m also sharing a new video today that showcases a new, fun technique that I call Floppy Photopolymer.  Here’s my card that combines them all:

Calling All Heroes, Holiday Home, Good Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri53

And here’s the FabFriday sketch that inspired my creation:

FabFri53 SketchYou know it, and I know it – the star of this project is the cityscape with its hazy base.  What do you think?

Calling All Heroes, Holiday Home, Good Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri53I just love how this looks.  This haziness was created with a technique derived by my upline Pam Morris through a combination of brilliant inventiveness and her [intense] desire to stay seated while she was stamping – I explain it all in this Floppy Photopolymer video:

This is also a good time for me to remind you that Good Greetings is only available through October 31 (when you place a $300 order or combine orders with friends to reach $300).  It’s a great set, and I don’t want you to miss out.  Click below to see these images in my Online Store.I hope you are inspired by this super-fun technique, and I hope you’ll try it out yourself.  If you don’t have Calling All Heroes, you can try it out with other images where you want a rough, hazy edge.  I also hope you’ll pop over to the FabFriday Challenge to check out the projects by the other design team members.

Stamps:  Calling All Heroes, Holiday Home, Good Greetings  Papers:  Old Olive, Basic Gray, Real Red, Whisper White, Santa & Co. Designer Series Paper  Inks:  Tuxedo Black Memento, Real Red  Accessories:  Hexagon punch (for banner tips), Stampin’ Dimensionals

  4. Love it! Thanks to Brian and Pam for a new, cool technique! I’m thinking the group of trees from Lovely as a Tree might lend itself to this technique. Gotta try it today.

  5. Great Video and I did have fun learning today! BTW- Pam is anything but lazy!

  6. Great idea to combine these 2 sets…The sleigh over the cityscape is so cool! TFS!

  8. Love this technique – this is something I would do too!! Thanks!!

  9. Well they always said necessity is the mother of invention. Pam needed to stamp so she invented a very interesting technique., it reminds me of San Francisco. Pam, I’m definitely going to try this. Brian, your card is really beautiful, I love the idea of using Santa with that sentiment. Great job

  10. This is clever ! Really …Santa leaping tall buildings with a bound (or sleigh in this case ) Cute card ! Sorry I couldn`t watch the video as it came up in the Protected mode ….inappropriate viewing on my screen !
Wow ! Brian`s gone Xrated on his blog !! That should attract tons of nosey people !!!LOL !

  11. Oh, I like the idea of doing this technique with the Lovely as a Tree set as Diane suggested, it could look like a bit of fog on a cool October morning. Love it, thank you Pam for being “lazy” and coming up with this great idea.
Your card is great Brian, it totally looks like Santa and his Reindeer are leaping over a cloud covered city.

  12. OOOPS!!!!! It’s Maria, it’s me!!! Mario is my hubby’s name, LOL!!

  13. Love the video, Brian, and Pam…. you’re right… laziness is the mother of invention! Also, CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN KING FOR PROMOTING TO SR. MANAGER…. WOW, NOW THAT’S SOMETHING SPECIAL AND VERY WELL DESERVED!

  14. That is so cool!!. Thanks for sharing in the video. I’m going right over to my craft desk and try that.

  15. I did a card with White Christmas where I stamped the trees with the snow bank in smoky slate then I bent back the tree and added the birds added the car at the bank
pulled off the trees leaving the car and the birds added the snowman and stamped them That way all of them went right where they were suppose to be. Then I did my coloring. I love the versatility of polymer.
