December Wonder for PP219

I love all shades and combinations of blue – especially around Christmas.  Today’ project, inspired by this week’s sketch challenge at The Paper Players, captures six shades of blue in a clean-and-layered card.  I’ve also included three of my favorite holiday-themed stamp sets in this project.  Can you name all three?  Hint – you won’t find them all in one place (one is in the Holiday Catalog, one is in the Holiday Supplement, and one is an online-only set).   And…the Designer Series Paper is not holiday-themed and found in the Annual Catalog.

Here’s my project:

Project Life December Wonder, Gentle Peace, Endless Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP219And here’s Nance Leedy’s sketch that inspired my joyful card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Joyful Shades of Blue.  The word JOY is stamped six times in six shades of blue, creating the ombre effect with these colors.  From top to bottom, the shades of blue I used are Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon, Island Indigo and Night of Navy.  JOY is from Project Life Hello December, a set available in the Holiday Supplement.  I love the versatility of the sentiments and images in this set – and since it’s a photopolymer set, it’s super-simple to line up one after the other.  🙂Project Life December Wonder, Gentle Peace, Endless Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP219
  • The Beautiful Star.  This star that shines on the top of this panel is composed of three things:  a Night of Navy circle punched with a 1-3/4″ Circle punch, the star image from Gentle Peace stamped on Lost Lagoon with Night of Navy and punched with a 1″ Circle punch and the same star image stamped on Soft Sky with Night of Navy and snipped to lay right over the Lost Lagoon circle.  The image incorporates the darkest shade of blue, one of the middle shades of blue and the lightest shade of blue.
  • Sentiment Construction.  The sentiment along the side of the focal panel is composed of three stamps in Endless Wishes: “sending you” and “season of” are two stamps in that set – I pulled in the “a” from another to complete the sentiment I wanted to pair with JOY.  Again, photopolymers make that so easy.

Stamp Sets:  Project Life Hello December, Gentle Peace, Endless Wishes  Papers:  Lost Lagoon, Night of Navy, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Flowerpot Designer Series Paper  Inks:  Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Lost Lagoon, Island Indigo, Night of Navy  Accessories:  1-3/4″ Circle punch, 1″ Circle punch, Project Life Corner Rounder, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Hexagon punch (for banner tips)

Additional tip (BONUS!):  I love my Envelope Liner Framelits.  Every once in a while, though, it’s fun to simply add detail to the outside flap of the envelope.

  10. I really like your many hues of blue . This card is so versatile . It would be pretty in the Landscape style also . Of course it would mean losing your Joys (sorry) ,but a soft image in that spot would work too . Plus I LOVE that top right corner being the only rounded one and that narrow strip of navy below the banner …..I love the details !
