Fun and Festive Visions of Santa

The past several days have been filled with soft and beautiful interpretations of the Christmas holidays – yellow, blue and brown were used to usher in the holidays.  Today, though, I’m turning that sweet, gentle Christmas feeling on its ear and celebrating with the bright and bold colors of a traditional Christmas celebration (with a non-so-traditional take on Jolly Old St. Nick).  Here’s my project:

Visions of Santa, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Dancing Santas.  By now, you’ve seen these Santas all over the place.  I was early to share several projects but have taken a little break.  These fun fellas are snipped from the Santa & Co. Designer Series Paper – all stamped and colored for me.  The sentiment is from Visions of Santa.  All awkwardly-shaped, these guys are filled with the festive fun that the holidays bring.Visions of Santa, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Paired with Festive Paper.  This Real Red and Whisper White pattern is also found in Santa & Co. Designer Series Paper, so I didn’t have to go too far to find a complement to these dancing elves (Santa is an elf, right?).  I love the imperfect lines on this paper – the slant of the pattern was the perfect place for me to position my dancing gnomes (I know Santa isn’t a gnome, but I felt silly calling him an elf again if I was wrong the first time).
  • Sentiment.  I love my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  I do.  But I felt like messing with it lately.  Lazy?  Yes.  Instead, I stamped my image and then cropped it.  If you missed my video about cropping an image that’s already stamped, click here to see it.

  5. Hi Brian:

Interesting concept for your card but the really amazing part to me is how you have snipped the Santa’s out so perfectly, especially with their tiny feet and hands! How the heck do you manage to do that so no detail is lost and even the outline remains totally visible? You continue to amaze me every day!

  7. Fun card Brian, this Santas look like they are dancing. What makes this card really special is the fact that you snipped this images, I truly admire your patience and precision with the scissors.
