A Rustic Christmas in Creams and Tans

I shared last week that I’ll be staying on as a Designer on the Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge until the end of the year.  Yippee!  I love these challenges and can’t wait to share the upcoming projects with you.  What fun!

Today’s project is a rustic card in creams, tans and browns.  Last week I went dark brown with Lesley’s Neutrals Challenge (see that project here), but I’m keeping it light and airy with this weeks’ super-fun challenge from Nina.  Here’s my project:

Trendy Trims, Watercolor Winter Too, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, MM133

And here’s the banner for this week’s Merry Monday challenge:

133Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Clean and Layered.  If you are new to my blog, then welcome.  I love a clean project, and I love a tailored look.  More than anything, though, I love a project that is clean and layered.  Even though the focal point is simple, I love when I can back with layers of luscious cardstock.  For this look, I combined layers of Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper to support the Whisper White panel in the center.
  • That Sled.  The sled featured front-and-center is from Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit.  Before punching out the sled, I used my AquaPainter to grab Soft Suede ink and paint the entire sled.  The kit comes with a paint brush (score!), but my AquaPainters are always in reach, so I grabbed one of them.  I love Stampin’ Up!’s kits.  I don’t always use them for the projects they are designed for (although that sometimes comes in handy), but I can always use all the pieces.
  • You’re So Square.  I don’t know if square cards are more formal or more modern, but I love them.  When I want to make an impact, I make it square.  The layering is so much easier, too, and that’s bonus enough for me to settle in on a square card when I want to add lots of delicious card stock.

Stamp Sets:  Watercolor Winter Too, Trendy Trims  Papers:  Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper  Inks:  Soft Suede  Accessories:  AquaPainter, Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit, Linen Thread, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to The Merry Monday site to check out the projects the other designers have created!

Thanks for stopping by today!

  11. Great card – I love using neutrals whenever I can – it is a shame that SU didn’t offer that sled as a die or separate from the kit. Same for the wooden snowflakes from the Stars Kit – great accessories for the holidays with so many uses.

    Love your cards.
