Having a Heartini with Freshly Made Sketches

Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog will soon come to an end [insert sighs of sadness here] – that means this could be your last opportunity to snatch up some of the wonderful products you’ve been eyeballing for the past several months.  They aren’t all Christmas-themed items, and many are flexible to be used throughout the year.  Here’s a card I made with Making Spirits Bright (not on the carryover list):

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Making Spirits Bright.  You don’t have to drink alcohol to love this stamp set – there’s an image and sentiment for every occasion, from Christmas to birthday to Thanksgiving and more.  Valentine’s Day feels perfect with a little Heartini, right?  I have used this set to make a Christmas card (see it here) and Thanksgiving card (see it here).
  • Black and White and Red and Pink.  I don’t always love the combination of red and pink, but I love this pairing of Real Red (bold red) and Pink Pirouette (soft pink).  I chose the Pink Pirouette background for the card front because it gave me a chance to use my Pink Pirouette Blendabilities to color in the martini.  Everything is bordered in a thin frame of Real Red – I like that look.
  • Pattern Match-Up.  I love the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack – one side of each page is designed with reds and pinks (Real Red and Crisp Cantaloupe) on one side and Basic Black and Whisper White on the other.  Both sides have this pattern of tiny hearts – one with a white background and one with a black background.  I thought it’d be cool to pair them, so I paired them.  🙂  Here’s the paper, paired with You Plus Me stamp set:You Plus Me Bundle, Stampin' Up!

Stamp Sets:  Making Spirits Bright  Papers:  Basic Black, Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack  Inks:  Tuxedo Black Memento, Blendabilities (Pink Pirouette, Cherry Cobbler)  Accessories:  Circles Collection Framelits, 2-1/2″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

  6. Hi Brian:

What a fab card today. First of all I really love pink and to me, backing it with red makes it stand out even more. The DSP is fantastic and I mean really, could you possibly get any more Valentineish (from my personal dictionary) than this card? Great job and I love that you take a stamp set and use it in ways I never would have thought of.

You have a wonderful weekend and a fun week next week.

  7. Excellent card Brian for “VALENTINE’s” coming up next, and using the paper from the new catalog that starts in January. Until then, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  8. Love this card and that stamp set was on my “Buy That” list. I have plans to get a few more items before they go bye bye. I think the colors you chose work really well together and I really like your take on the sketch.
