A Happy Thing – a Sale-a-Bration Sneak Peek

From the moment I first laid eyes on A Happy Thing, one of the amazing options during Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-a-Bration, I knew I was in love.  Complementing a big, bold lemon and a chubby, little bird are two amazing sentiments in beautiful fonts.  Let’s see – beautiful images, great sentiments and gorgeous fonts – sounds like the perfect combination of elements for a wonderful stamp set.  Even better – it’s free with a $50 purchase (starting in January 6). Woo hoo!  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Snippy, Snippy.  This lemon (or I suppose you could make it a lime) is PERFECT for a fun paper-piecing project.  The bold, sketched lines make it super easy to snip around the edges – even if you aren’t an avid snipper.  Lining up the pieces over the stamped images is really easy – doesn’t have to be perfect to be amazing.
  • An Angled Backdrop.  With all its big, bold shapes and colors, this card needs a little pattern and texture.  The small piece of Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper, another great option during Sale-a-Bration, gives me the right balance of color and pattern I wanted to support the bold, bright lemon.  I angled the top of the paper to add intrigue.
  • Color Combination.  I love this fresh, bright combination of colors.  The bright yellow and the mellow green pair well for a fresh pop of Spring.  If you like this combination of colors, too, feel free to save this: Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  9. Brian,
For ink you mention the StazOn, but what colored the fruit and leaves? What am I missing?

    • Hey Gay Lynn, The lemon and leaves are stamped in black on colored cardstock – Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz – and then cropped and added to the card base. Does that make sense?
