The Cutest Valentine … Ever

I am not one to exaggerate things – there’s just no point.  What good does it do to present an idea or situation as extremely different than it is?  What results do people achieve when they overstate the importance or relevance of an issue?  Nothing.  Exaggeration is just a big, fat waste of time.  That is why I don’t exaggerate things…ever.  Today I’m over-the-moon to share with you the single most adorable Valentine’s Day project in the history of the world.  Nothing you ever see will bring you as much joy as this single project I am sharing today.  Check this out:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Pass!  I made these cute, little Valentine’s bags and tags with one of my monthly stamp clubs.  The members of the club loved the tags as much as I loved designing them – and they had a lot of fun creating them for themselves.  All of our work, though, was put to the test when Marti asked her young daughter what she thought of the projects.  She really liked the chick with the “be mine” sentiment but questioned the “I Like Your Face” sentiment.  Maybe she’s too you, but I LOVE this sentiment.
  • One for Boy, One for Girl.  I love the idea of having Valentine’s projects that are designed for either a boy and a Valentine’s Day project for a girl.  I don’t typically like to follow the social norms about colors, but all of these products (Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper, Best Year Ever Accessory Pack, ink and matching Blendabilities markesr) coordinate so well that it seems like a slam dunk to make one for boy and one for girl.  The “boy”got Angled Tag Topper, while the “girl” got the Scalloped.
  • Layered Tag.  The tags here are super-simple – yet they have a really great look to them.  For each gift bag, I simply cropped three pieces of paper (one Whisper White and two Designer Series Paper) and punched each with a tag topper punch.  I love how the papers supplement the critters without distracting from the cute images in this stamp set.

Here’s a closeup of each of the bags:

  2. Brian I love the idea and most of all I love your honesty. Your videos are the best and so easy to follow and duplicate. thanks so much for sharing and taking the time to do that extra step for us!!!

  3. Really cute, that is great for kids and you can put most anything in the bag. Thanks again for a great idea!

  4. Brian you have made me like this stamp set! :-). What a great project and great use for this set. I will try the same project. I like the new black background in your pix. I thought of trying that. I may experiment to see how that turns out with some of my cards. Oh and by the way I always appreciate your lack of exaggeration. It’s so evident in all of your posts. LOL.

  5. Your project is cute ! But I still doesn’t like the critters , they are not cute for me. I thought of buying them for cards for kids , but …no… Maybe they find something more cute next year, I’ll just safe my money for that :). Have a nice day !

  6. Brian–I love the triple tag idea! But I agree with Mart’s daughter about the “I like your face” stamp. For me it was the only sour note in the entire Occasions/Sale-a-Bration kick-off.

  7. I’m not a fan of this little critters but I’ve seen several projects made with them that look cute. The images are versatile, you can really stamp any small greeting or sentiment on their little banners. This is a very nice project for those little Valentine gifts for the kids classmates.
    Thank you for sharing.

  8. Oh my goodness, these are darling treats. The tags are SO much cuter with the DSP layers than with just the one layer…why didn’t I think of that? Thanks for sharing!

  9. Love these, Brian! What a great idea to “layer” the tags!

Could you tell me where you got the Be Mine sentiment. I didn’t see it in the critters stamp set. Did I miss it?

    • Jeanne, The “be mine” sentiment is from You Plus Me, the first stamp set presented in the Occasions Catalog. Sorry I forgot to add that in my supplies list.

  10. Those have to be the cutest, most adorable valentine goodie bags I have seen in my entire life. 😉

  11. Thanks for the triple tag idea. It’s really cute. Do you cut the papers 4 or 5 inches long?

  12. Brian, you did not exaggerate, these are adorable. Can’t wait to get my stamps on Mon. Hugs!!!

  14. Another cute way to use this set. (You had me at Best. Day. Ever. card, BTW, and I did get the set)
    Happy Stamping, all!

  15. That would be a great project for a Brownie Troop. I wish Stampin’ Up was around when I was a Brownie leader. I used to spend hours looking for craft projects to do with the girls that they would enjoy. SU would have saved me a lot of time. Thanks for sharing Brian…………

  16. SUPER cute! And fun to make too. Thanks for making and sharing with us!
