Oodles of Love for PPA237

Stampin’ Up!’s Snuggles and Smooches photopolymer stamp set was released in January.  It’s the PERFECT set for wonderfully fun Valentine’s Day cards.  This week’s PPA sketch gave me the layout I needed to make this set come to life.  Here’s my card:

Snuggles and Smooches, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA237And here’s Nicole Watt’s sketch that inspired my creation:

PPA237Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Stamp. Crop. Glue. Crop.  I love the sentiments that are included in Snuggles and Smooches – these were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White.  I cropped them with paper snips, glued them on Basic Black and then snipped them again.  They are a perfect accent for this soft, sweet panel.
  • Sweet Color Combination.  While I used Basic Black as the backbone for this card – it serves as the card base and frames most of the elements on the card, the heart of the card is in its soft pastels.  I love this mix of Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz.  If you fancy this combination, feel free to save this off for yourself: Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • A Balanced Heart.  The punched heart is not part of the sketch, but when I sat back and squinted at the sketch before gluing it down, it needed something else.  Not only did the card need a little pop of blue, but it needed a little weight in the right corner – this heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack delivered exactly what I needed.  [for those who are new to my blog: I’ve patented the squint technique – stand back from the project, squint and see what else it needs.  When you use the patented technique, you have to send me a nickel.  To date, I’ve earned ten cents off this worthwhile patent.]
