Irresistibly Yours: Celebrate Baby

Today, I’m sharing the third in a series of projects that feature Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper, one of the incredible options available during 2015 Sale-a-Bration.  This paper is an A+ option, so you’ll want to pick up a bunch of this so you don’t get left out.  🙂  If you missed my other cards, please check them out here and here.  Here’s today’s card:

Fabulous Four, Something for Baby, Irresistibly Yours, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sponging the Paper.  To create the soft background on today’s card, I lightly sponged Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point on the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper.  After a couple of failed attempts, I realized that I couldn’t mix the blue and green too much.  Why?  Because yellow and blue make green.  I really like the celestial appeal of the misty blue and yellow backdrop.
  • Leave it Alone.  This specialty paper is great when inked up – it allows for bold pops of white.  The paper is also pretty beautiful when left alone.  As such, I framed the painted paper with a border of “left alone” Designer Series Paper.  You can’t see all of the stars on the outside border in this picture, but they are there – and I like the subtle dimension they add.
  • Masked Sentiment.  This sentiment, from Fabulous Four in the Annual Catalog, is one of my all-time favorite fonts (have I ever told you how much I love fonts?).  “Celebrate” can be used for so many different occasions, but this stamp comes with “Amazing Spectacular Fantastic You”.  Because I wanted to make a baby card, I decided to mask these four additional words.  I simply taped over the words I didn’t want, inked up the stamp and then removed the tape before stamping the words on the white banner.  I filmed a video that shows this technique (and shows it with this very stamp image) – see it here.

  2. I look forward to your cards they are ALWAYS very well done thanks for all the great ideas.

  3. Great card Brian!!

  4. Brian, I love how you mix the two colors together! Love this card! Do you think this paper will be in the new catalog when it comes out in July?

    • Thank you for the comment you left on my blog this morning. I can’t say for certain, but we’ve been told that the products offered in Sale-a-Bration are exclusive to Sale-a-Bration. We’ve been told they won’t be offered after. My guess is that they might show up in a Clearance Rack at some point, but I also think they won’t stay there very long. If you want this paper (and you do), it’s best to earn it during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 purchase or by joining as a demonstrator.

  5. Great sponging and an adorable baby card.

  6. AWE Brian – I love that little ducky. This is a fabulous non gender specific card for all those baby showers and new births where the parents either don’t know or don’t share whether it’s a girl or boy until it’s born. That makes things less easy for those of us who make hand made gifts like sweater sets or baby quilts. This would be a terrific “make ahead” card to keep on hand. Thanks for sharing your beautiful creation.

  7. So soft and sweet looking!

  8. I really love what you have done with the sponging on the paper on all three cards. They’re great from soft and subtle to bold and bright. Wow!

  9. Absolutely darling baby card, Brian!!!

  10. Another one that took my breath away! WOW! I love this paper..just LOVE it! I am going to get a whole “bunch” of it during the next 2-1/2 months. This card is absolutely the best I’ve seen in a while. The outer layer you left alone is perfect to showcase the paper in it’s original glory, and adds just the right touch too. Great card, my friend…just great! My neighbor is having their 5th….. I think I may have to use your design. 🙂 Have a wonderful day!
