Stampin’ Up!’s inks, stamps and papers are super-versatile. While I mostly create and share cards on my blog, I occasionally share 3-D items or gift wrap ideas. Seldom, if ever, do I share ideas for using Stampin’ Up! products in home decor. Our catalogs are filled with wonderful ideas for home decor, but I just don’t typically create that way. Well, blow the roof off – because today I’m sharing a stamping project that ends in a beautiful frame for your shelf, side table or wall.
As I was shopping for some necessities at Target last weekend, I ended up in the picture frames and candles section. I can smell a thousand candles without choosing one, but if I see a picture frame I like, it goes right into my basket. [Funny thing – my house is filled with empty picture frames and frames that have pictures from 20 years ago. That’s the balance in my life.] Anyway, during my tour of candles, I saw a “floater” picture frame with no backing – it’s a frame with two pieces of glass. A side piece pulls out from the frame so the glass pieces can slide right out the side. The frame just jumped in my cart. I took it home and made this:
I was going to make a bright and cheery focal point for this frame, but my Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper reached out and grabbed me. In all of its Whisper White and Sahara Sand glory, this paper is a treasure. As a result, this became a muted, but beautiful, project.
I thought I was done, but I couldn’t stop there. I used Washi Tape to carefully adhere a panel of coordinating paper to the back of the frame (remember – this isn’t a shadowbox). That really helps to add depth to the project. That way, I can easily switch out the entire look of this frame with just a couple of steps:
Happy with my creation, I carried the decorated frame upstairs and set it on a shelf. How pretty is my new addition?
What do you think? I couldn’t be happier with myself – you’d think I painted the living room and resurfaced the hardwoods. 🙂 I can think of lots of way to use this cute frame going forward.

Oh Brian – this is just beautiful AND inspiring. I am the opposite of you, I have tons of photos and not enough frames! LOL However, that’s a good thing as every room in our cabin is full of pictures and quilts and there really isn’t any place to put any more. I do love the idea of making gifts with the frames. The SU paper and sayings make for endless ideas.
