Love is in the Details for PPA238

What a great time of year to celebrate love!  It’s not like there’s an inappropriate time to celebrate love (can you think of such a thing?), but February seems like it was carefully designed for reds and pinks and hearts and candies and love.  That’s why this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge made it so easy for me to decide on a theme…love.  But I didn’t use any of the Valentine’s Day stamps.  I went a little more obscure with a new stamp that I love a lot.  Here’s my card:

Better Than E-mail, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA238

And here’s the challenge banner for this week’s PPA challenge that inspired my creation:PPA238

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Love is in the Details.  Do you recognize this stamp?  Gosh, I love playing this game with you.  🙂  You don’t ever answer my question, but I have to assume you are always paying attention and always on your game.  The sentiments is from January’s photopolymer stamp set, Better Than E-Mail, that can be used to personalize your envelopes and hand-made creations.  I used this sentiment as the focal point of my card.  I inked the sentiment in Rose Red and Basic Gray and masked the (c) Stampin’ Up! at the base – I can add that to the back of the card.  🙂  So many of these can be focal points, rather than labels.
  • Teeny Tiny Hearts.  OK, so you guessed the stamp set – or I assume you did since you didn’t say otherwise.  Any thoughts about where these tiny hearts came from?  HINT:  The base of this square card is 4-1/2″ x 4-1/2″, so the hearts are much smaller than the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  These adorable hearts are cropped from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlints Die (see the strip of hearts in the bottom, right?).  ADORABLE!  Don’t you think?  Whether you want to make treat bags (and you do, I promise!), there are so many other options available in this thinlit die.
  • Random?  Above the sentiment, I wanted to dust my Whisper White panel with random hearts, bursting from the adorable sentiment.  It looks all whimsical and fun, but it’s really a mathematically calculated and planned peppering of hearts.  Check it out – there are two of each color heart and two sets of three.  And no heart is positioned right next to a heart of the same color.  Also, the lightest color (Pink Pirouette) is at the top, which gives the illusion that they are floating and airy.  Does all of this calculated manipulation ruin the mystery of my randomness?

Stamp Sets:  Better Than E-Mail  Papers:  Basic Gray, Rose Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack Backgrounds (Pink Pirouette) Inks:  Rose Red, Basic Gray  Accessories:  Treat Bag Thinlits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you’ll play along with this week’s PPA challenge.

Brian, you are a total inspiration, and I was quite, quite jealous of Fiona when I saw on her blog that she got to meet you in Florida. Shame I couldn’t justify the huge cost it would have been for me to visit you guys at Leadership – not to mention having to leave my 3 year old twins, too. I think I need to make this card for them! (But I will have to find a replacement stamp!)
Youre a genius. (I thought the hearts came from the border punch.)

  22. Love IS in the details and yours are fabulous! Beautiful, beautiful card Brian!!

  23. Love is in the details, Brian! This card echoes that sentiment beautifully…the sweet polka dot background, the framed focal point, and most of all, those sweet little hearts. Very sweet and fun!
