Happy Day with a Happy House

On Sunday, I shared a fun card I made with the cute, little house from You Brighten My Day (if you missed it, you can see it here).  You Brighten My Day is one of the exclusive products you can select with every $50 spent during Sale-a-Bration.  Well, today, I am featuring the same cute house on a layout I designed last year – more on that later.  Here’s my card:

You Brighten My Day, What's Up?, Cheerful Critters, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • CASE myself.  When I am leaving for vacations or Stampin’ Up! events, I hide away from the world to marathon stamp so that I have projects to share while I’m away – I’m dedicated like that.  One of the projects I created during a marathon stamping event before Convention included seven arrows and a simple “What’s up?”  There were no central images, so I knew I’d have to recreate this card when I saw the cute house in You Brighten My Day.  You can click on this card to see the original post that includes measurements and a quick instructional for making this fun panel of arrows:What's Up?, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Pop of Color.  While the card I made last year is perfectly balanced with three colors: Rose Red, Marina Mist and Perfect Plum, today’s card is mostly Early Espresso and Crumb Cake – it’s the Crushed Curry house and sentiment that really pop here.  I chose Crushed Curry because there’s a coordinating Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I love how the two just pop off the page.  It’s how it was meant to be.
  • Color Combination.  These browns and this regal yellow are not the colors you’d expect to see this time of year.  Still, this combination is perfect for a house warming party – for the reasons I explain above.  The Crushed Curry takes center stage against this neutral background.  If you are inspired by this color combination, feel free to save this off:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  1. Very clever! I like this 🙂

  2. Would you believe I ordered the What’s Up? punch solely to perfectly clip the ends of smaller banners? And now you have shown us at least two card designs with the Happy House stamp, using that punch! I like both cards in today’s posting.

  3. Brian – you are so dang clever it isn’t funny! I would never have thought to use the arrow punch on that little house. In fact, it was a total surprise to me that the arrow punch fit the little house in the You Brighten My Day stamp set! I love the way you can see uses for different punches, stamp sets and color combos that I would never be able to think of. I guess that’s the difference between a truly creative person and someone like me who just starts stamping and hopes for the best! LOL

  4. Love this, very clever of you Brian, to make us need to order more stamps because of your cute cards. The punch is on sale this week YEAH!!

  5. Cute…..clever….and perfectly timed with the sale! Love it!

  6. Cute! Cute! Love the Crushed Curry house with all the others. Very clever and eye catching. I’ve seen this punch used as a little bird house, hanging from a tree. I love that most (or all) of the SU punches can always be used for something other than what it was intended for. I played with the Bow Builder punch and it makes cute little fish. 🙂 Love your card and as always, thanks for your daily dose of creativity, humor and inspiration.

  7. That Card SCREAMS ….Happy Day!!

  8. WOW!! you just can’t miss that happy house, really clever how you highlighted it in bright yellow to set it apart from the others.
As always, you did a great job implementing each color on that chart, very sweet, CAS card.
Thank you for sharing and for your sweet words on my blog Brian, it means a lot that you go and visit.
    Hugs, my dear.

  9. Love, love, love this! So simple yet gorgeous! I am definitely a fan of clean and simple, and you are one of my inspiration go-to’s Brian.
I also love Bobbi’s idea of the bow builder to create a fish – genius! Thanks for inspiring us to use our products in more unique and inventive ways. Much appreciated!
