Hello with CAS(E) This Sketch

Today’s project showcases one of the new items you can earn during Sale-a-Bration STARTING TODAY.  I’m thrilled with all four of these new items – two stamp sets, an accessory pack (with twine and buttons) and a stack of designer vellum.  Oooohh – these are great!  Before I share today’s project, here’s a peek at the four items you can earn during the month of March for every $50 purchase (click on any of these icons to see the items in my online store):

Again, you’re going to want to make sure you get these.  They are all wonderful – and you’ll want to add them to your craft collection.  🙂 Today’s card features the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack – a stack of 24 sheets (2 each of 12 designs) of vellum with fun Basic Gray patterns on each.  What a versatile and fun stack of vellum sheets!  Here’s my card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CTS112 And here’s Chrissy Larson’s sketch that inspired my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

    • Adhering the Vellum.  It can be really tricky to glue down a piece of vellum – it’s so delicate and (almost) completely transparent.  As such, any amount of glue or adhesive would be completely visible.  To help hide the strip of glue along the top of this piece of vellum, I added a tiny strip of Whisper White card stock over the glue.  To tack down the bottom corners, I added a little spot of Multipurpose Liquid Glue under the little spots of gray flower.  The glue is completely hidden by the gray image.
    • Banner Tip Tips.  I’ve shared this before, but someone is always excited by the tip when I share it.  If you’ve paid attention to everything I’ve ever said, then skip to the next point.  🙂  To create a perfect banner tip on each side of this thin strip of card stock, I slid the strip into the side of my Hexagon punch.  Super-easy to line up.  I repeated on the other side and couldn’t be happier with the result.
    • Soft Color Combination.  This vellum, with its sweet array of stems and flowers needs a soft backdrop to properly thrive.  I can’t think of a softer, sweeter backdrop than Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party.  If you like these colors together, please save this:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  9. I like your card . Vellum adds that special something to cards and I do not use it as much as I could . Probably because of the glue issue .
I am going to get the In Color items ….you get all 5 of the In Colors for free . Sometimes you only get 3 !!!
    Double yay !!

  12. Love this card Brian, what a beautiful interpretation of the sketch. Vellum is tricky to use, sometimes it curves if you heat emboss it, and then is the issue of the adhesive you use, it can be seen through very easily. You managed to hide the adhesive perfectly, Thank you for sharing. 🙂

  13. Loving this card soooo much! I now must add the vellum to my want list!

  14. Oh, this is gorgeous! I love your take on the sketch! It’s so soft and pretty!
