Spring Pals Blog Hop

http://stampinpretty.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54f95df92883401b7c75abbd4970b-piWelcome to the March Pals Blog Hop where we are celebrating Spring. This month we are featuring Spring-related projects for Mother’s Day, Easter or any other occasion that celebrates the end of Winter.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Beth McCullough at Stampin’ Mom on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Fry Box Easter Baskets

I don’t typically make 3-D projects, but I’ve shared several projects with the Fry Box Bigz L die.  In each project, the die makes a fry box – dress it up or dress it down, it’s still a fry box.  Today’s project was inspired by Valerie Moody, a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator in Warwickshire, England.  Her gorgeous project turned the fry box into a beautiful Christmas bag (see Valerie’s video tutorial here).  I thought Easter would be a great time to recreate this adorable box.  Here’s my Fry Box Easter Basket:

I heat embossed these adorable chicks from For Peeps’ Sake with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder before assembling the box.  They are a perfect accent for the front of this bag, don’t you think?

I created the tag with the From the Garden stamp set and coordinating Framelits.  The tag is stamped with the image that looks like a garden spike – I stamped the sentiment upside down on the spike, used my bone folder to curl the slender spike, wrapped it around the handle of the basket and adhered it with a glue dot.  I learned that fun trick during a Main Stage presentation at this year’s Leadership Conference.

I assembled these adorable baskets in five pastel colors:  Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Pool Party, Blushing Bride and Pistachio Pudding.  I added a little pop of coordinating color to each basket with a flower punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I lined them all up for an afternoon photo shoot:

I mean, seriously!  How cute are these things?  I filled them with Easter grass, which is right up there with glitter on my “no, thank you” list.  I rolled my eyes and gritted my teeth with every tug of grass from the bag it came in.  I hovered over the trash can to make sure that stuff didn’t make its way to the Fungeon floor.

These are adorable, Brian! Although I don’t share your feelings about glitter or confetti, I DO share your feelings about Easter grass for the most part! LOL! At least now you can purchase it in paper form instead of cellophane or whatever! That stuff wrapped itself around the rollers of the vacuum cleaner!!!
Love you French fry boxes! Thank you, Brian!

  5. Super adorable! LOVE the way you used the garden framelit as a tag!

  6. Cuteness alert! Cuteness alert!

  7. Absolutely adorable ! These fly off the cute and clever chart ! Oh the Easter Bunny will be calling you for detailed instructions ! I am not a big fan of the grass fall out either ,but it is what it is !

  8. Bravo Brian!!! on dealing with this clingy, green stuff, it gets so full of static that it literally sticks to your clothes, sheeesh!! But you were brave and used it on this so adorable baskets, the colors just shout SPRING!! love them all.
    Thank you for sharing.

  9. Love these little Easter baskets! I am right there with you and not liking the grass…when my kid’s were little I used it and it was always EVERYWHERE!! Found it for months afterward….. Thank you for sharing!

  10. They are gorgeous – love the stamp set, and the colours you’ve used are spot on for Easter. Very nice 🙂

  11. Oh Brian – these are way, way too cute however, I kept trying to peek inside to see if they contained chocolate! It’s so exciting to see Spring colors and signs of Easter. Now if the snow would just melt and let me find my birdbath again! By making a variety of colored “baskets” you shared all kinds of color combinations that just look wonderful. This is really a fun project with lots to smile about. So glad you survived your fight with the “grass”. LOL

  12. Oh Brian! These are adorable!! I’m right there with you though on the at grass. I must learn how to make m fry boxes look like this, thanks for the link.

  13. Ditto to Linda Callahan…just too cute!!! I love the Garden Tag!

  14. BRIAN! I love this! So perfectly pastel and cute! Wow!

  15. Geesh!! What’s with the “thing” with glitter & grass?!? I think these baskets are just the cutest ever!! Sure hope the Easter Bunny will be leaving me a basket like that filled with goodies on my doorstep!! Thanks for all the giggles & inspiration!! Too Cute!!

  16. I know how much you love the Fry a Box Die and I love these peeps!! What a really great idea for a bag/basket! Don’t you love all the new international Stampin’ Up! friends we now have? So much fun!

  17. Well Brian, I think you need to continue making 3D projects. Your baskets are awesome! I agree with you on the glitter. I used it on my Perpetual Calendar last weekend and now have sparkles everywhere! I may have to give away the rest of my glitter so I’m never tempted to use it again. 🙂

  18. Extra cute! I love to make a different basket for my kids every year. Will have to make a full bag with the mini treat bag die this year, I think! The colors you used are yummy. Thanks for the inspiration!

  19. So cute and versatile! Can’t wait to start on them for my grandkids…so perfect for a “mini” Easter basket. These would also be great for a gift card holder!

  20. Brian, these are so stinkin’ cute. You’re making me rethink the fry box die. I think it’s the embossing that grabbed me though. Awesome job Brian.

  21. Super cute Brian! I love the upside down garden spike as the tag. You are definitely an enabler with this project, my wish list ever expands!

  22. Selina Kilpatrick

So cute in all the spring colors! I love the embossed chicks on the front too.

  23. Brian you outdid yourself, these are awesome!

  24. For not loving 3D projects I’d say you hit this one out of the park! Great idea to use white embossing powder for the chicks. Simple clean and very cute.

  25. Absolutely too CUTE!!!

  26. What a great set of baskets! Very fun!

  27. Well Mr. King… you’ve done it again. Turned something into something else. Great idea turning a plant stake into a label. Only a King could think of that. TFS!

  28. Great use of the garden spikes!

  29. omg, Brian – you just make me laugh out loud. I love your comments. Love the project, too… even without glitter.

  30. I love what you did with these! I’d love to share this on my blog for ‘My Crafty Friends Monday’ next week! Please let me know if you would prefer that I didn’t share it (of course I give you credit and link back to your blog!).
    Inky Hugs!
