Light up My Life with FabFri61

The colors for this week’s FabFriday challenge are So Saffron, Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz.  These colors are soft a sweet – a perfect combination for Easter or a baby card.  So, what did I do?  I made a 90 degree turn and went in a different direction to make this super-simple, super-sweet card:

And here’s the challenge banner that inspired my creation:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Lanterns.  I’ve loved this triplet of lanterns since the moment I first flipped through this year’s Annual Catalog.  Not only are there three (there’s amazing balance in three), but there’s beautiful movement in these lights.  The image, too, corresponds perfectly with the sentiment.
  • Sketchy, Sketchy.  I love the sketchy nature of these lanterns.  Images that are not created with clean, straight lines lend themselves to snipping and paper piecing.  You don’t have to cut perfectly or line the images up perfectly – that’s good news, right?  🙂  This is why I always paper piece the coffee cup from Perfect Blend.  If you missed my video on paper piecing, check it out here.
  • Simple Backdrop.  You already know that I love to layer backgrounds on cards.  This centerpiece, though, didn’t need it.  I tried to reincorporate the yellow, pink or blue in a layer under the centerpiece, but they didn’t work.  Why?  Because they weren’t necessary.  The panel with the lanterns worked well on its own.  In the end, I was quite pleased with the Pear Pizzazz backdrop.

  4. I really like the softness of this card and the message is just so perfect to send to someone who is having a hard time. I find that often instead of making a card stating that I’m sorry for whatever the person is going through, it’s better to send them a card with a positive statement about themselves. Beautiful card, beautiful colors, beautiful creator! TFS

  5. Love this! Beautiful use of the colors and so clean and fresh. Definitely CASE worthy!
