Celebrate with Stampin’ Up!’s Balloon Bash

I can never make enough birthday cards.  It’s a good thing that I’m in love with all of Stampin’ Up!’s birthday images and papers – the Occasions Catalog makes celebrating fun!  Today is Thursday, which means the Pals Paper Arts team is offering a brand new challenge to share with you today – today is a super-simple sketch.  Here’s my card:

And here’s the PPA sketch that inspired my project:

PPA248Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Simple Banner.  I just love the Balloon Bash stamp set in the Occasions Catalog – the large print and fun graphics make this photopolymer set a must-have.  While I used the candles from this stamp set (and masked out the sentiment), I used the “celebrate” banner from another stamp and then trimmed off the rest of the words.  Not only do I LOOOVE this font, but the combination of the two is clean and fun.
  • Thin Borders.  Because I heat embossed the sentiment with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bermuda Bay cardstock, I was left with a thin border of Bermuda Bay when I cut out the image.  As such, I created thin borders of Bermuda Bay around the other elements on the card.  The repetition of Bermuda Bay borders really helps to give the card a cohesive look, don’t you think?
  • Color Combination.  The inspiration for my color selection was the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper I used as the base for this card front.  I love the colors in this paper – they scream, “Celebrate!” (in a good way).  If you are also inspired by this combination, too, feel free to save this:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  6. Hi Brian:

I send out a ton of birthday cards so any time I see one that can be both fairly fast to make and yet beautifully impressive I’m a happy camper. Being retired one would think I have all the time in the world to sit and make cards but, believe it or not, I got as much, if not more done, when I worked full time. LOL

  7. Uh-oh, you may have just sold me on this set!

  8. You are so clever at using pieces of stamp sets and putting them together to give a whole new look. You inspire me to do the same. Love your colors today too. Thanks for all the insight!
