You Make My Heart Smile for FMS189

I have been heads-down in the Fungeon for the past two days.  When all those boxes arrived at my house on Thursday, I knew it was time to get started with sorting and cutting for my product shares and Designer Series Paper Swatch Books.  What a great way to familiarize myself with the GORGEOUS patterns and colors in the papers!  While preparing these shares and getting them ready to mail out, my new things laughed at me and taunted me from their temporary homes (the boxes that sit on the floor).  After lunch, I took a quick break to make this card:

Timeless Love, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS189

And here’s the challenge banner that inspired my project:FMS189Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sketch inspiration.  As soon as I saw this sketch on the Freshly Made Sketches, I knew the GORGEOUS bough of flowers from Timeless Love would represent this partial circle that overlooks the rest of this sketch.  While the bough is not a complete circle, your imagination doesn’t know that – so it looks as though these beautiful flowers belong to a very sweet wreath.  I knew I’d place my sentiment on the front, small panel – and guessed I’d just have an unadorned panel for the third shape.  I was right!  Just a little color on the panel was enough.
  • Easy Coloring.  The flowers were so much fun to color – and anyone could do it.  I pressed the lid of my Classic Stampin’ Pad to gather a little ink in the lid.  I dipped my Blender Pen into the pooled ink and lightly painted the flowers, pulling mostly from the middle of the flower toward the outside of its petals.  So easy!  I added a couple So Saffron flowers and Pear Pizzazz leaves to incorporate a little bit of color with the Pink Pirouette.Timeless Love, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS189
  • Thick Whisper White Cardstock.  After trying to decide if I wanted to mount this card on Sahara Sand or Pink Pirouette (those were my only choices, right?), it occurred to me that my new shipment included Stampin’ Up!’s new Thicker Whisper White cardstock.  Score!  That’s exactly what this card needed – I felt as though I’d won the lottery when I confirmed that the paper is, in fact, Whisper White and that it’s perfect for the base of a card.  If this isn’t on your wish list, please add it now.  It’s really quite amazing!

  1. Wow! Gorgeous! I don’t normally go for pink – but this is stunning.

  2. Love the card and the layout is awesome!

  3. Rosemarie Cowit

Love it. Of course! Good luck with getting all the shares done. Can’t wait for my swatch book.
Also, do you know of any remedy for never-used blender pens that have dried out tips? I have a slew of them I never got around to using tank the tips are hard and dried out. TIA!
    Have a great Sunday!

    • Rosemarie, I don’t know how to re-energize a dried up pen. I have had some for three years, and they are still good to go. The pens aren’t a huge investment, so I suggest popping another set in your next order. 🙂

    • Google Blender Pen Refill Recipe. You use glycerin and distiller water, but I do not remember the specific amounts.

    • Hello Rosemarie: There are several U Tube videos that have instructions on how to make the refills for Blender Pens. You just Google “Blender Pen refill recipe” and you will find them. I don’t use them often but I’ve seen very favorable reviews for it. I think the ingredients are rubbing alcohol and glycerin but I don’t know the proportions. Google it and you will find it. Hope this help.

  4. I’m not a pink person either but this is beautiful. Would be a great card for someone with breast cancer. Might need to change sentiment.

  5. Beautiful! Love the wreath as the circle element! Can’t wait to get that new white!

  6. Absolutely beautiful!! Stunning, in fact!! Glad to hear some feedback about the thick a Whisper White – have you stamped on it yet? Can’t wait to get my hands on it!! Thank you for the inspiration and information!

  7. Brian, this is a gorgeous card!!

  8. Hi Brian:

I have to agree with Vivian that this would be a perfect card for a breast cancer survivor or someone going through treatment. I absolutely love Pink Pirouette most likely because I love ballet and pointe and have two professional dancers in the family. How clever of you to disguise half a wreath behind a circle to make it look like an entire wreath. I would never have thought of that. You are just too clever! Have fun making your shares. I’m anxious to see all the DSP’s “in person”. Have a fantastic day.

  9. Beautiful! I just ordered Pink Pirouette in my last order. Now I’m really looking forward to using it. 🙂

  10. WOW!! Double WOW! Brian, your card is stunning. Great use of colors and everything about it is elegant.
