No Stamps, No Ink: PPA255 Color Challenge

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge is PERFECT for a masculine card – browns and blues are a wonderful combination for any type of card, but they provide a wonderful foundation for a great card for any guy.  Early Espresso, Marina Mist and Sahara Sand – I would have never paired these three, but I’m happy for this challenge because it gave me a great chance to use some new products on a card I love.  Here’s my card:Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Expressions Natural Elements, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PPA255

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Brick Wall Embossing Folder.  The new textured impressions embossing folders in this year’s catalog are wider than ever – each of them measures 6″ x 6″, allowing us to easily position the image vertical or horizontal on our card.  The modern and cool Brick Wall TIEF adds just the right amount of texture to the background of this card.  While you might think Whisper White or Cajun Craze for bricks, the Sahara Sand brick backdrop is quite cool!Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder by Stampin' Up!
  • Expressions Natural Elements.  As I sorted my product shares, I fell deep in love with the wooden sentiments in the Expressions Natural Elements.  Congrats, Thanks and Celebrate.  With just a couple drops of Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, my intricate sentiment was ready to go!Expressions Natural Elements by Stampin' Up!
  • Banner Triple Punch.  With the new Triple Banner Punch, I can always get a clean, centered banner tip.  I don’t play by the rules all the time, so I intentionally made a lop-sided banner tip – and I like it!  Adds quite a bit of intrigue to the card, don’t you think?  I’ll be sharing a video soon with some tips and tricks for using this new punch.  Banner Triple Punch by Stampin' Up!

  1. This is an amazing no ink no stamps card!!! Love the color combo and your off centered banner tip. Can’t wait for the video

  2. Love it! I will have to keep this on in the back of my mind for a quick card is needed.

  3. How good is that?!
I really love the embossing and the lop sided banner. Nice 🙂

  4. Blue is my favorite color and have always loved it paired with browns. I love this brick EF but guess what . . . I do not own a Big Shot and it will not fit in my Cuttlebug. In the past I was only missing out on a few items, SU offered, and I really hope they don’t start making more items that are a “smidgen” wider. Boo Hoo . . . 🙁
    🙂

    • Nancy,
You can always cut the embossing folder, but you really NEED to have a Big Shot. It’s definitely worth the investment. I love the wider folders. 🙂

  5. Great card Brian. Love the simplicity. Terrific use of the Natural Elements!

  6. Love this card and all its elements. The banner punch is on my wish list but after your upcoming video, it will probably be moved up to my “want it now” list.

  7. O.K., I’m intrigued by the banner…..
    I anxiously await video.

  8. I’m changing your name to Brian U. King and the U is for Unique. This card is awesome! There are several demos that I follow that I wish I could live in their brains for a day in hopes that a wee bit of their creativity would rub off. You’re on that list. Awesome job Brian.

  9. Great card! (as usual!)

  10. Cool card!

  11. Brian, that’s another reason why I just have to keep coming back…your not playing by the rules a lot! Adore that banner and your card is perfection!
    Hugs,
    Sunshine

  12. Stamping up is on the ball….love the wider folder! It’s the simple things that often makes us happier!

  13. Hi Brian:

If someone handed me that challenge I would look them straight in the eye and say “Are you nuts? How can I make a card without stamps or ink?”. Then I would call Brian – problem solved! Fabulous card and I do love the EF. Have a great day Mr. King. You are the stamp master for sure.

  14. Love this, Brian…marine mist has become a go to blue for me…but never would have put it early expresso….looking like that brick embossing folder will be on my want list…Thanks to the share, I have the natural expression!

  15. This is a great card for anyone! The brick TIEF is my next must-have!

  16. Very handsome card today, Brian. It’s done just right– not too much but just enough to make it interesting. Thank So!

  17. LOVE IT!!! I’ve got to try this!

  18. love it! and the banner is great, thanks for sharing

  19. Great card, Brian! Love the textured brick background and the color combo!

  20. What a great challenge! You found the perfect solution to not stamping a sentiment, so good! Always look forward to more of your videos. ♥

  21. This is a great card. I love the brick and wood textures together. I’m really loving the new wooden words.

  22. Hi Brain, great card-as usual! Quick question, tho-do the wider EF’s fit in the Texture Boutique?

    • Liz, I think the Texture Boutique only handles folders up to 4-1/4″ wide. If so, the 6″ wide ones won’t work – unless you cut the folder.

  23. Nice and clean! Great! I realized my card also had no stamps or ink and I was worried but since the “king” did the same thing…I’m clear! 🙂

  24. Perfect masculine card Brian!! Love it!!
