Thank You in Green and Blue

Wow!  Y’all really helped to make yesterday a very special day for my Mom and me…what a warm response to Mom’s video – you left so many kind comments, and we appreciate every one of them.  At the same time, you may have created a monster.  Before Mom left to travel back home yesterday, all I heard was “what are your stats now?” and “do you normally get this much of a response on a Sunday?”  With a little dance in her step, she continuously ran to her iPad to refresh and read all of your wonderful responses.  Thank you.  There’s more to come from Mom.  Promise.

It seems fitting that my project today is a “thank you” card.  Here it is:

Tin of Cards stamp set, Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Tin of Cards Photopolymer Stamp Set.  In the new Annual Catalog, Stampin’ Up! introduces are super-cool card kit called Tin of Cards Project Kit.  I LOVE it and love the tin the cards come in.  Even if you don’t buy the kit, the coordinating stamp set is a must-have.  The sentiment on this card is from the Tin of Cards photopolymer stamp set.  I love the fonts – and the set includes simple sentiments for all occasions.  Click on this image for a closer view of the set in my online store:Tin of Cards Photopolymer Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!
  • Layering Colors and Patterns.  I’ve never been a fan of Pacific Point – there, I said it.  I’ve loved almost all the other blues, but this one has never been my favorite – it’s just so…blue.  With this Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, though, I’m changing my mind.  I love this blue with these other colors.  This card is all about layering colors and patterns – busy, plain, busy.  In the end, there’s enough open space to make the busy spaces work well.  If you missed my video about layering patterns, see it here.
  • Layers.  I don’t always share the measurements for the layers on my cards, but I thought I’d be sweet today.  Here they are (starting with the base of the card and moving up):
    • 1 – Old Olive card stock – 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
    • 2 – Pacific Point card stock – 3-3/4″ x 5″
    • 3 – Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack – 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″
    • 4 – Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack – 3-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
    • 5 – Pacific Point card stock – 3-1/8″ x 3-1/8″
    • 6 – Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack – 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″
    • 7 – Pacific Point card stock – 2″ Circle punch
    • 8 – Very Vanilla card stock – 1-3/4″ Circle punch

  1. I’m so happy to hear that you might use some more Pacific Point! I really like that colour – and yet I am not a fan of blue usually. Old Olive and Pacific Point together is such a winner. This card looks awesome. Love the way you have layered it too. Glad you “Mom” liked all the comments!

  2. Thanks for the card recipe of measurements…to me that is always…BONUS!!

Your mom is a hoot….but I’d be the same way too! Look forward to seeing mom some more!

  3. Brian,
Thank you so so much for sharing the layers. I love how you do your borders but it seems when I try to get mine to look like yours they never turn out.
Oh how I hope you share more layers on your samples.

  4. Your special guest was wonderful. Hope you will bring her back real soon!

  5. Awwww, your both so vary welcome !! And it made me smile to know how she enjoyed our comments, that’s so great , oh wow we can’t wait to see more of Mom !!! Thank you Mom!!!!

  6. It was certainly a fun and special day to have your mom as a surprise guest on Stamp with Brian. Glad she had so much fun.
I have loved Pacific Point since it was introduced and am so glad to see it on this card. It is a wonderful card and thanks for the measurements. Maybe you’ll start using it more !

  7. Love this card and love that Tin Of Cards set . I just received mine last week and it is going to be fun to setting it up . The stamp set is great and the tin is of great quality .
I love Pacific Point ! It is a happy blue without green overtones or leaning toward the darker navies . Great color for summer .
See if you can book your mom for another appearance soon ! She has created a Fan Club !!

  8. I LOVE this card – I like bright!! Thanks for the paper sizes too. Loved your mom’s video!!! Looking forward to more!

  9. I love it when you’re sweet! 🙂

  10. This is a great card, Brian. I’m liking those sentiments, too. I’m still working on the Pacific Point I got when it was an In Color, (how long ago was that?) so I know how happy the day is when you use some up!

  11. Thank you SO much for the measurements. It must be a pain to do, but is muchly appreciated!

  12. O.K. Brian – it’s time for MOM to set up her own blog. She can call it Minutes with Mary or Mary’s Merry or whatever. We don’t care we just want to see more of her.

Now, don’t be going into a snit – we all still love you LOL

Fabulous card today Brian. Love the color combo and that little bit of pink in the DSP really does pull it all together. Your layering is, as always, over the top beautiful. I’m so glad you are willing to share your talents with us all. By the way, got my swatches and this years DSP’s are just amazing. Thank you so much for being willing to make those swatches. They are such a help when determining if one really wants a specific DSP. Wishing you a Marvelous Monday, one that is at least as marvelous as you are. 🙂

  13. Your mum (“mom”???) was fantastic Brian- you better watch out…. They get addicted! Fantastic card (as usual!) can’t wait until I manage to get my tin of cards too! (And the stamp set- love those fonts! )

  14. Love your card – that is a pretty vibrant blue, but paired with the DSP, it is just absolutely beautiful! Thanks for the measurements, too. That is super helpful. Your Mom did a terrific job with the video, love to see more of her. You are a pretty great guy to share the spotlight with your Mom!

  15. Beautiful! So clean and crisp. I, too am not a fan of Pacific Point but every once in a while it works wonders, as with today’s card. Thank you for my paper share; I thought having all the samples would help me eliminate what I probably won’t use, but it only made me want to buy it all! Gorgeous colors and patterns this time around. I was really tickled when you said your mom kept looking at the new posts re: her video. That’s great! Thank you for all you do.

  16. I so appreciate the measurements, however; I know it takes more of your time and I’m already in awe of you for having a “daily” card, many, many thanks!
So many of us are afraid to make a video, your mom really excited us yesterday!

  17. A mother monster. Watch out.

  18. I love these colors. The photo in the catalog of the Pretty Petals DSP Stack does not do it justice. I was really wowed when I got it. You have used it beautifully today, Brian.

  19. I have the tin of cards and have already completed all the cards! Love the stamp set for the very same reasons you posted. Thank you for posting the measurements Brian, helps a beginner like me to get a good understanding of layering.

  20. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the measurements! <3 <3 <3

  21. Thank you for posting the sizes of the dsp and cardstock you used to make this card! It is so helpful since there are so many layers. I will be making this card. I love the colors! Great job. And I do agree; your mom was great on the video from yesterday. She explained very well. Give mom hugs and kisses!

  22. Mom=awesome!

    Great card too Brian!

  23. Your mom’s sweetness must be rubbing off on you: thank you for sharing those measurements. Pacific Point is my favorite blue exactly because it is so intense! Thanks, Brian!

  24. See how little it takes to make us moms happy!
Love the card. I usually shy away from overly busy patterns and lean more towards the calmer ones. Thanks for showing how they can go together to make a cohesive marriage. Also, thanks for the measurements.

  25. What a cutie! Your Mom must know that even thought we all love YOU, it’s your Mom that will bring your stats up even more! Way to go Mrs. King! Brian, your card is just awesome. I love Pacific Point, and I am not much of a blue color person but I do forget to use it more often. It goes extremely well with Olive and this beautiful paper! What a beautiful card! Love it!
