Merry Thankful with Merry Moments

Last week I tried to effectively pair Santa’s Gifts (a new Christmas stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2015-2016 Annual Catalog) with Merry Moments (a vibrant, new Designer Series Paper).  When my attempts failed (I still made a cute card that you can see here, but I couldn’t work this paper into the design), I was left heartbroken.  Here’s my second attempt to pair the two – and I think this one is a clean-and-simple success:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Tags & Labels Framelits.  I just adore this set of Tags & Labels Framelits – so many options to layer to your heart’s content.  Not only will these sizes work perfectly with so many of our sentiments, but they can also be used to create unique features on a card.  I cropped my Smoky Slate band across the card to 1″ to coordinate with the Labels Framelit inside the layered sentiment.  Might look like Santa’s belt – might just be a fun embellishment.  You decide.

  • Thank You Cards at Christmas.  We always think about Christmas cards for the holidays and sometimes want to drop to the floor when we are done – but we aren’t done without adorable cards that say “thank you” for the wonderful gifts that are given to us in December.  Whether it’s to say “thank you for giving me a present” or “thank you for spending time with me last week” a nice Christmas-themed thank you card is nice to have on hand during the holidays.
  • Color Combination.  With few exceptions, Christmas is all about red and green, right?  Sometimes, though, it’s OK for one of those colors to spinoff into its own show and take a leading role.  That’s the case with Real Red here.  When paired with Smoky Slate and Whisper White, red really shines. 1. Too funny, I am working on swaps for Convention and having the exact same issue. Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. Nice Brian! Very corporate. Thank yous are so important. Glad you didn’t give up on your idea.
    🙂

  3. I really like this combination and I also like to do Christmas thank yous ahead and have a stash ready to use as there are many needed during that holiday! Love the color combination and it is very striking with the diagonal lines.

  6. Beautiful! Clean, simple, elegant!!

  7. Well Brian, thank you merry, merry much for this beautiful card! LOL I have always been a believer in thank you cards. If someone takes the time to buy you a gift, do something nice for you or grace you with their presence at a gathering, a thank you is definitely called for. I try to get my Christmas thank you’s done ahead of time so they are ready for my personal message. I also do this for October when I participate in the American Cancer Society Walk for the Cure for Breast Cancer. I am so grateful for all those that sponsor me. This design in pink and white would be perfect for that. Have a Wonderful Wednesday.

  8. Stop using items I don’t have! Your stamped projects keep adding to my wish list! 🙂

  11. Love this! Thanks for sharing (and pushing those framelits up my wishlist so they probably need to be on my next order!). Love your clean and simple style, you are so inspiring. Definitely need to follow my heart and get CASEing some of these amazing designs instead of sitting looking at my supplies blankly! xxx
P.S. Were you even slightly contemplating attending OnStage in Brussels this year? I’m booked and ready to go and it would be *amazing* if some of our fave US demos could come along… hint, hint!!

  12. Brian – another great – simple – elegant card – love seeing what you do and hope to get a chance to meet you. I will find you – as can usually spot you sometime during the event – but never got a chance to meet you yet.

    See you in Salt Lake

Great card! I immediately thought of Santa’s belt! But, that paper – is even better – I love those colors and have not seen this paper pack up close and personal. I will be getting it. The stamp set is already on my wish list. All the layers is so fun and totally me! Thanks Brian, I will be CASeing this beauty for sure!

I had a quick dream about you and Susan Itell at convention. You challenged her to a race with her scooter. You knew she would win but you signaled for some people on her right to get in her way to see you and you pushed ahead! It was actually pretty funny and she had a horn or bell and was trying to get everyone out of the way. Everyone was laughing at the whole situation. I love waking up giggling at a dream! Have a good time at convention with my friends!

  17. CUTE! This sentiment is really cute . Love it !
