A Gift from the Garden for FabFri69

While I’m away at Convention, the challenges keep rolling on.  This week’s FabFriday color challenge is graced with three of 2014-2016’s In Colors – Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss.  While it’s easy to forget to use these colors (because we are so in love with this year’s five new In Colors), last year’s colors certainly are not forgettable.  Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Farmers Market.  With all of its bold images of vegetable and fruits, it’s easy to look past Farmers Market Designer Series Paper in the 2015 Annual Catalog – if you don’t like veggies, you probably won’t like some of the pages of paper in this collection.  BUT – don’t forget there are amazing and wonderful patterns on both sides of Designer Series Papers – and this collection has got some simple beauties.  If you’d like to check out the patterns in the other pages of this Designer Series Paper, click on the image below:

  • Bold Band.  After I framed this beautiful image with the Lots of Labels Framelits, I couldn’t just let it hang there in the middle of this fun (but kinda busy) gingham print.  What to do?  I added a layered thick band to the card front, just below the cropped frame) to ground the image to the card front.  The thick band of Very Vanilla, cut to match the curves in the Framelit, was just what I needed to pull all the colors together with the balance I wanted.
  • No Sentiment.  It’s rare that I create cards with no sentiment.  When I do, it’s always noteworthy.  This large cutout and floral image filled the cardfront to allow me the opportunity to just put the sentiment inside the card.  I quite like the amount of “white space” left on the front of the card.  The real reason?  After I stamped these great herbs and flowers onto the Very Vanilla, I was nervous to stamp a sentiment for fear that I might have to stamp the flowers all over again.

Stamp Sets:  Gift from the Garden  Papers:  Farmer’s Market Designer Series Paper, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Very Vanilla  Inks:  Stampin’ Write Markers (Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon, Crumb Cake)  Accessories:  Lots of Labels Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you’ll pop over to the Fab Friday Design Challenge Blog to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  7. You? Afraid of making a mistake stamping? I find that difficult to believe. 🙂 But I don’t blame you for no sentiment…it looks lovely the way it is.

  8. Love this card! Great colors!

  9. AWWWW Brian that’s a beauty, I’m so proud of you !!!
Hugs Frenchie, yay the King is up there !!!!!

  10. Abso-positootly drop dead gorgeous Brian. The color combo is fantastic and the card design could not possibly be any more beautiful. I’m glad you left the sentiment off, it just would have “muddied” the front of the card. What a great hostess set a few of these cards tucked into a little box would make. Sometimes we just need to put only our own words to a card. Can you tell I just love it? Have a fantastic time at convention. Can’t wait to hear all about it!
