Lighthearted Leaves – a Sneak Peek

Adult coloring books are all the rage these days – they are advertised as stress relievers and relaxation assistants, but they can also be a lot of fun.  If you don’t believe me, just ask some adults who own adult coloring books (they are certainly experts on the matter).  Anyway, there’s something really calming about finding the repetition in patterns and adding your color-spin that makes coloring such a wonderful escape for adults.  What does this have to do with stamping?  By combining adult coloring with stamping, I’ve created a super-chic project that’s sure to make the creator AND the recipient happy.  Here’s my card:

Lighthearted Leaves, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Lighthearted Leaves.  The moment I saw this stamp set in the upcoming Holiday Catalog, I knew I would be coloring this gorgeously detailed maple leaf.  The shapes and patterns inside this leaf are reminiscent of an artist’s doodle – or the recently popular zentangling.  With the new Archival Basic Black in (also available int he new catalog),  this leaf is PERFECT for stamping and coloring with Stampin’ Write Markers – and the images pair with the Leaflets Framelits Dies that debuted in the Annual Catalog this year.  Perfection!

  • Archival Black Ink.  Another new product in the Holiday Catalog is Archival Black Ink – everything you want black ink to be.  It gives a deep black image every time, cleans easily and pairs perfectly with our Stampin’ Write Markers – no bleeding, no running.  The black ink is almost instantly dry and ready for coloring.  Please meet my new, go-to Black Ink:

  • Fun Fall Color Selection.  It’s always fun to create new color combinations that just work well.  To color this leaf, I chose from a variety of color families (Brights, Regals and Subtles are represented – and the black counts for Neutrals).  I chose an orange, a yellow, a red, a purple and a green – here are the colors I used for this card:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Tangelo Twist, So Saffron, Rose Red, Pefect Plum, Old Olive

Stamp Sets:  Lighthearted Leaves  Papers:  Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper, Tangelo Twist, Rose Red, Basic Black, Whisper White  Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Stampin’ Write Markers (Tangelo Twist, So Saffron, Rose Red, Perfect Plum, Old Olive)  Accessories:  White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Leaflets Framelits Dies, Hexagon Punch (for banner tip), Stampin’ Dimensionals
