Peaceful Wreath for Merry Monday #169

I love this time of year – I get to play with my new Christmas products and start playing along with the challenges over at the Merry Mondays Christmas Card Blog.  Yippee!  This week’s challenge from Debbie Henderson is to incorporate light green, dark green and red.  I immediately knew I’d be turning my attention to the Peaceful Wreath for this project.  I chose Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz and Real Red as my colors for this project.  Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Peaceful Wreath Stamp Set.  I adore this new stamp set from the upcoming Holiday Catalog.  The sketched artistry is beautiful – and the images coordinate with a Framelits die we already have, so…SCORE!  Here’s a look at the amazing images in this set:

  • Coloring the Wreath.  I stamped this beautiful holly wreath in Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White and cropped it with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits (available in the Annual Catalog).  I colored each leaf with a Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker and then added a touch of Old Olive to each.  I started at the base of the leaf and randomly painted some of the darker green.  That little touch adds so much depth to the already-beautiful leaves.  I dotted each berry with my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.Peaceful Wreath, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, MM169
  • Color Combination.  There’s nothing new about a green-and-red combination, but there’s definitely something exciting about it.  I love this particular combination of greens and red – the red pops beautifully against the combination of light and dark greens.  Stampin' Up! 11. Hi Brian:

I have GOT TO have one of those fine tip glue pens! Are they new to the Holiday catalog or have I just been passing them by?
