My Favorite Things from Stampin’ Up!’s 2015 Holiday Catalog

The 2015 Holiday Catalog was released yesterday, and I’m ecstatic about the response.  This is an amazing catalog, and I couldn’t be happier with its offerings.  Today, I’m sharing my FIVE favorite items from the Holiday Catalog, along with projects I’ve already shared with you – you might have missed some of these, so please pay attention.

I’ve organized my list of Five Favorite Things into four seasonal categories – you’ll find my Favorite Things for Fall, Halloween, Winter and Christmas.  You can click on any of the items to see them in my online store or on any of the projects to see my original post:

MY FAVORITE THING FOR FALL

Lighthearted Leaves Photopolymer Stamp Set (#139712)

Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!

What a wonderful way to usher in the Fall!  These artistic leaves are perfect for coloring (a wonderful way to reduce stress and enjoy your Stampin’ Write Markers) or for creating a beautiful accent or background on a card.  Not only does this whimsical and fun stamp set have leaves of all shapes and sizes, but the sentiments are incredible, too.

These photopolymer stamps pair perfectly with the Leaflets Framelit Dies (available in the Annual Catalog), so you don’t have to fussy cut a thing – unless you want to.  🙂  Here’s a card I made that features a leaf and sentiment from Lighthearted Leaves:

I’m sorry to tell you this, but you need Lighthearted Leaves AND the Vintage Leaves Bundle.  If you don’t have them now, just go ahead and order them up.  That’s just that.  Here’s a project I made with the leaves from Vintage Leaves and the sentiment from Lighthearted Leaves:

MY FAVORITE THING FOR HALLOWEEN

Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (#139584)

Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper

I’ve really grown to love Tangelo Twist over the past year – a perfect shade of orange for Halloween.  This Designer Series Paper, which pairs Tangelo Twist with Basic Black and Very Vanilla has everything you could ever want about the October 31 holiday.  It’s got a little bit of spooky (those spider webs!), a little bit of cutesy (those little paisley ghosts make me smile every time) and a little bit of flexible-for-all-year (so many of these patterns are not specific to Halloween and can be used for any project.  That means you don’t have to put it away on November 1.  Hooray!  🙂  I love them all!  Here’s a fun project I made for FabFriday, which also features the Spider Web Doilies (#139622) and Cheer All Year Photopolymer Stamp Set (#139839):

Cheer All Year, Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FabFri70I applied the Spider Web Doily with help from my trusty friend, the Fine-Tip Glue Pen (#138309).  Stampin’ Up! produced a fun instructional video to show how incredible the glue pen is…and I agree that it’s a must-have.

MY FAVORITE THING FOR WINTER (1)

Snow Place Photopolymer Bundle (#140844)

Snow Place stamp set & Snow Friends Framelits Bundle, Stampin' Up!

C’mon, this is the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.  If you admit it now, we’ll be able to get along a lot better from here on.  I didn’t play with dress-up paper dolls as a child, but I imagine this is what it was like – start with a penguin and add a scarf or ear muffs.  How about some little buttons – does it get better than that?  The entire collection of images are perfect for the cold, Winter months – and you certainly can’t lose with so many coordinating Framelits.

I can think of a thousand ways to showcase these snowmen and this penguin, but I chose to showcase them in a sweet and simple “let it snow” card for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop:

Snow Place, Snow Friends Framelits, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingYou can’t always have serious cards – and this one has so much more fun in it than any other stamp set in the Holiday Catalog.  Remember – you agreed with me on that already.

MY FAVORITE THING FOR WINTER (2)

Flurry of Wishes Photopolymer Bundle (#140868)

Flurry of WIshes Bundle

Who doesn’t love a gorgeous, lacy snowflake?  Not only does this gorgeous stamp set have four over-the-top beautiful snowflakes, but the set also has beautiful sentiments that can be used for a variety of projects throughout the year.  The options are endless with this bundle – fun or festive, this is a great set.  I used the snowflakes and one of the sentiments to make this card, which showcases beautiful Mint Macaron, Pear Pizzazz and Lost Lagoon snowflakes:Flurry of Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAlthough I haven’t yet showcased a project with the coordinating punch, you’re bound to see it one day soon.  🙂

MY FAVORITE THING FOR CHRISTMAS

Holly Jolly Greetings Bundle (#140865)

Holly Jolly Bundle

This might go against the grain a bit, but my Favorite Christmas item has only one principle image and is filled with seemingly disjointed sentiments.  BUT this stamp set is smartly designed to create a boatload of holiday greetings – and you know how much I love good sentiments.  Paired with the three beautiful words in the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies, the options are endless.  From “peace on earth” to “comfort & joy” to “wishing you peace” and “season of joy” this set is flexible to be used with almost any image or color.  The sentiment is what finished off this card, which also features the Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies (#139666) and the GORGEOUS trees from Wonderland (#140365):

Wonderland, Hearth & Home Thinlits, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FMS200I created another project with this stamp set and Thinlits Dies that I’ll share on Saturday.  I’m a words-guy.  I love scrambling the words around to make the phrases I want – and the font is so beautifully bold and versatile that it can be used for all types of projects.

RECAP OF ALL FIVE FAVORITE THINGS

And here are a couple of other things I mentioned in this post – or that you should also check out while you are purchasing these five items after I provided my very sound advice.  🙂

I hope this list has helped you to narrow down your list a bit – or maybe I helped you to expand it?  🙂  You can’t go wrong with almost anything in this catalog – it’s packed with goodness.  I can only hope you love it as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. These are some fabulous projects Brian! I appreciate the recap as I kissed several of them. We share a kit of favorite things in the holiday catalog.

  2. Oh Brian – Every time I read one of your posts I add something to my wish list. LOL Thanks for letting us know your favorites from the catalog. Sometimes in our excitement to go through the catalog we bypass a set but once we see you use it we know we have to have it. Great recap of your designs. Hugs.

  3. Thank you for posting your 5 fave things. It not only reminded me which of your cards I loved–all bundled up in one email posting–but also which items I had my eyes on. It sure made my shopping experience quicker and more pleasurable.
I’m so excited–sooo looking fwd to receiving my stuff.

  4. I think it must be the caffeine from the Diet Coke I am enjoying but when I see these penguins I think how cute would they look with a Hawaiian print pair of shorts paper pieced on! I think I have seen a Santa card recently where he is sitting on the beach soaking up the rays. With your comment about paper dolls I just combined the two. I figured if anyone, you could come up with this. Or, maybe it was the piece on the news last night about Obama in Alaska and the global warming issue? Anyway, I think it would be fun for you to humor me with this since I don’t have this set.

  5. Love your designs, especially the pretty leaf card with the “thanks and giving” sentiment!

  6. El, a Stampin' Pretty Pal

    Great cards, Brian! *Every* one!!!

  7. Love your choices….great examples!

  8. Your choices are great! Some the same as mine. It’s hard to miss with all the wonderful things in this catalog! Thanks for sharing your favorites and ideas.

  9. Ok, how did you get my favorite things in the new catty list? Oh and since you said order that bundle I’ll be expecting you to supply a credit card number to cover that. Ok, silliness over, truth is you have chosen items that I absolutely LOVE. I LOVE THIS CATALOG!!!

  10. ALL great! Penquins are precious! My favorite! : )

  11. Pingback: Jolly Holly for Merry Monday - STAMP WITH BRIAN

  12. Hi Brian. Great stuff, and beautiful projects.
Hey, any chance the larger snowflakes in the flurry of wishes stamp set coordinate with the festive flurries framelits? Because, that would be very smart, if they did…

    • Richard, Unfortunately, they don’t. The smaller snowflakes pair with the new punch (sold in a bundle), and the medium sized one pairs with the Flower Medallion punch. 🙂

  13. I didn’t NEED lighthearted leaves and vintage leaves and framelits until is saw what you did with them! Thanks for adding to my shopping list ;). Gorgeous!

  14. Oh my goodness, EVERYTHING WONDERFUL! I love it all! TFS Brian!
