Three Things I Like: Candy’s Candy Treat Box

Last week I popped over to Candy Ford’s house and interrupted one of her monthly club meetings.  What fun!  Candy is a super-talented member of my InKing Royalty team, and today I’m excited to share one of the handouts from her class with you.  At each place setting, Candy had set out a little box of treat.  But the candy wasn’t the best part of the treat – the box, itself, was quite a treat!  After you read my write-up, I hope you’ll visit Candy’s blog (stampcandy.net) to see more of her amazing projects.  Here’s the adorable candy box:

I mean, really!  Does it get any more adorable than that?  Just the right serving of Halloween treats with all the adorableness one can handle.

Three Things I Like

Here are three things – yes, I’m limiting myself to just three – I really like about Candy’s super-fun candy fry box:

  • Spooky Owl.  I shared with you last week that I just recently used the Owl Builder punch for the first time.  It wouldn’t surprise you to know, then, that if I were to make this fry box for my party guests, I would have never thought to add the adorable owl.  Candy’s punch art character – created with Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Whisper White and Basic Black – it the perfect accent for this treat box.  “Owl have another piece of candy, please!”

  • Two-mstones.  The two tombstones that grace the back of this fry box are a perfect accent to the box.  I love that they stand above the back of the box, which allows you to fill it with even more candy!  🙂  I love these little images from Sweet Hauntings that coordinate with the Note Tag punch – I love that Stampin’ Up! created them in the shape of the punch and that Candy included them on her fun project.

  • An Extended Washi Label Punch.  The owl is cool, and the tombstones are great.  Perhaps the standout “that’s brilliant” part of Candy’s project, though, is this super-long sentiment that’s cropped out with the Washi Label punch.  Rather than getting one, solid punch with the Washi Label punch, Candy cropped the Tangelo Twist band fit the sentiment and slid each end into the punch (from the middle) to crop the ends.  Last week, I showed how you can reduce the height with this punch (see that post here) – and today’s project shows how you can increase the length.  I love that! How to Create an Extended Banner with Stampin' Up!'s Washi Label punch, Candy Ford

  1. Candy did a great job on this project and you did a great job sharing your favorite 3 things. Thanks for sharing

  2. Good enough to eat (hey you really can)! Darling box and I love the tip on extending the length of the Washi Label Punch.

  3. So cute! I love the owl builder punch and use it all the time, sometimes even for owls! Thanks for sharing this adorable project.

  4. This is so cute! I don’t have the Washi Label punch so #3 for me would be the Butterfinger candy! Yum one of my favorites. I love the two tomb stones on there which are just perfect to go with the candy. I once made a Dracula costume for the owl to wear. That would be the only thing cuter on this but I am not sure how I did it. Anyway, I am off to visit Candy’s blog – I am sure it will be a lot of fun. Thanks for showcasing one of your team members. This is a great project!

  5. What an adorable project, I love it. Great job Candy
